I was surprised by this move. I did not expect to see him in Queens. Maybe the idea of teaming up with Scherzer again looked pretty good.

At his age risky but far risky than giving DeGrom a huge contract with his injuries issues. Seems like a few desperate moves early lately by some teams.

right... probably the wrong move, dealing with Verlander's age is difficult... he could either continue being dominant or fall off completely... and neither would surprise anyone...

but once they lost degrom, they HAD to make a big move... this was the biggest they could make... great signing... just hope it works out for them...

I like how they matched it up with Scherz's deal.

They can both expire and have a ton of money to figure it out. Plus ideally some of their prospects can fill a hole or two.
