Vargas is pitching, I see

I really liked Vargas a lot when he was in Seattle.

He's had it rough the past couple of starts (I watched both on Extra Innings), but I'm hoping he finds his way tonight. Good guy, and wish him nothing but the best.

I don't think Vargas had a bad year last year. He only had a 4.02 ERA which is solid.

I do agree that Vargas is a very underrated innings eater. He's good for 200 IP with a 3-4 ERA and the Royals landed him for just $8m per year. He's not going to dazzle you with his pitching, but he gets guys out. Very solid middle of the rotation type pitcher.

Id take his slight bump in WHIP and ERA just fine. If, he hadnt missed 8or 9 starts. That's why I threw "bad year" out there. Im not looking for dominance, but Id be paying him for taking innings away from the bullpen.

To be honest I was hoping the M's would resign him. I think he would have been a good #3 behind Felix and Kuma. Obviously Elias came out of nowhere though and has helped fill that spot, at least for now.

Yeah, I would've been fine if the M's re-signed him. As you can see, there's no guarantee that great prospects pan out on the timeline you hope for.

The Angels were really stupid for letting him go last year, IMO.

The good thing about a pitcher like Vargas is you know what you are going to get. Solid starter that gives you chance to win. Good signing for the Royals.

He's 4-1 after his excellent start today with a 3.00 ERA.
