It's rumored to be a 5th round pick which is not worth it to me. Vannett is a starting caliber TE in the NFL and that should be worth a 3rd at least maybe a 4th ( seeing as the Steelers might be picking in the top 10 of every round). this would also leave seattle with just Will as the only true TE. Do they just not want to pay him because his rookie contract is up after this season? Planned on not resigning so get something for him now?

a 5th rounder for Vannett is a joke though.

I dont see him being starter caliber at all, he is a career backup.

we could potentially have 13 picks in this coming draft

Seahawks are projected to have 12 picks in the 2020 draft - assuming they don’t sign anymore free agents that would offset their comp picks.

1st, 2nd, 2nd (Frank Clark trade), 3rd, 3rd (Earl Thomas Comp pick), 4th, 4th (Justin Coleman Comp pick), 5th, 6th, 6th (Shamar Stephen comp pick), 7th, 7th (Brett Hundley Comp pick)

hmm Maybe they are stock piling picks so when they use a 1st and 2nd on Ramsey? Thats a steep price for Ramsey though.

Same here... He's been a disappointment here imo... I feel a 5th rounder is a job well done by both parties involved in the trade...

Sorry Vannett is better than Luke Willson. Luke drops that catch in P{it that Secured the win for the Hawks. That was a brutal catch. How he didn't break ribs is beyond me and how he held onto the ball.

Vannett might be marginally better than Willson, but it's not as if Luke has never made some good catches either.

How exactly do you measure whether Willson or Vannett is better?

by what a TE is supposed to be in the offense and in THIS offense. He is every bit the pass catcher as Luke and as a blocker it's not even close. I am not putting Luke Willson down, he is fine just not as well rounded and he is well 29 years old not 26 like Nick Vannett. I think many forget that Vennett is still very Young and just turned 26 in March and is now in his prime, Willson not so much ( 29 )

I think it's a good trade for the Seahawks. I believe Vannett would've been a free agent at the end of the season and I don't know if the Seahawks would've retained him.

In the short term I personally believe that Luke Willson is a better TE than Vannett. Not as strong of a blocker, but a better receiver. Had Vannett walked in the offseason, I don't think the Seahawks would've received a comp pick higher than what they received in the trade.

Yeah i think that is the thing, they were not going to re-up his contract so they got what they could for him. Solid TE good blocker and solid pass catcher, sad to see a 3rd round pick ( TE ) go. I don't think he was worth a 3rd in a trade but he was more valuable than a 5th. I actually would have liked to see a CB/S in the trade for Vannett.
