Glad they traded up to get him!! I looked at a lot of game film on prospects on youtube and such.. He had one of the most impressive highlights I've seen of any prospects out there.. And he dominated that bowl game against SDSU!!

I haven't heard a single negative remark about this pick. You got a steal.

I absolutely love this pick. He fills a big hole and gives the Lions a LB that can rush the passer and make plays. I also think it is huge that the Lions have Ansah too, as it will help make it easier on Van Noy to transition to the NFL, as they were roommates at BYU.

I'm guessing since Van Noy went to BYU, he is a high character player as well, as if I'm not mistaken, they have to sign some morality clause to go to school there.

Right after the combine Van Noy was seen as the 4th best OLB very close to Shazier.

Things change but the guy was productive and should press Palmer for playing time next season.

Palmer could be $$ cut. Not a lot but a savings none the less.

Palmer is too good a special teamer to cut. He will go back to being what he is good at. Special teams and backup all 3 LB positions (although mostly weakside and MLB).

Sounds like Van Noy might have a sports hernia, if so he won't be available for a while.

Wouldn't be surprised if he was tagged for IR with the designation to return.

Time for Whitehead to step up for a while and show us more of what we saw on Friday night!

There are varying degrees of sports hernia. Hopefully his isn't too serious.

"ESPN Lions reporter Michael Rothstein predicts Kyle Van Noy will win the strong-side linebacker job.

Rothstein made it clear he is handicapping the race as the roster stands today, and things could certainly change in the draft. A second-round pick in 2014, Van Noy has been a massive disappointment to this point in his career. This will likely be a make-or-break offseason for him."- Rotoworld

So Levy really is done and not going to play anymore? I wonder what Rothstein is getting at? What has Van Noy shown to lead him to think that? Levy on 1 leg is probably still better than KVN at this point. I would think we should wait to see if he even makes the team this year before anointing him the starter.

Strong-side Old Lion. Levy starts weak-side. He's basically saying KVN will start in the open LB spot.

Up to last year. All the depth charts I have seen for this year have Levy moving to SLB and Bynes to WLB with Whitehead in the middle. Even all that assumes Tulloch is gone.

Good to see ya back TBB.

Why move a guy from the position where he became an all-star caliber force? Makes no sense. Some things haven't changed, apparently.

No one else is as good in coverage. Sad statement but true. We need a couple guys that can cover someone.

Whitehead showed some coverage skills

Agreed. Thats why I was thinking that we draft Ragland. Levy would stay weak and Whitehead strong with Bynes as the main backup at all positions.

Hard to tell what is going to happen still, but the vibe I am getting is that we will keep Whitehead in the middle and look to draft some guys.

"*Lions coaches obviously want to see what third-year linebacker Kyle Van Noy can do. He was the top strong-side linebacker on Thursday, lining up with Tahir Whitehead in the middle and DeAndre Levy on the weak side."

Looks like Rothstein is right so far. I hope that's the way it plays out. I want to see a healthy Van Noy get a real shot. And in this scheme, strong-side probably fits him best.

Van Noy and Levy on the field at the same time would be nice to see come September.
