Looking to smoke this bad boy tomorrow for dinner. Looks like it only takes about 2 hours total.

225? 60-90 minutes then wrap in foil, put in a cooler for 30 minutes

I’ve eaten tri tips at bbq joints before and they were always off the chain.

Anyone have a go to on this?

I tried it once and it turned out a little tough and dry. Hope you have better luck than I did. :suds:

I’ve never tried smoking them, but I’ve made a ton of them. I generally turn on one side of my grill at around 300-350 and leave the other side off. I sear off both sides for around ten minutes per side and then put it on the other side of the grill and cook via indirect heat for about an hour. Let it rest for around 15 minutes and you’re good to go.

This ^^^ is what I attempted. Sorry, I should have specified that I have not tried smoking one.

I usually marinate them over night at least. Been getting some Wagu stuff around here lately. crazy good. 16.99 a pound, "on sale".

Sear, then cook at 375 MR in center. (in between grills, so I have been searing and cooking in the oven lately).
May get a traeger, not sure yet...

I like to cut and serve quickly, if possible, because it can dry out quicker than some cuts (like brisket).

I eat my share as I'm cutting it. Fuck I am hungry now.

What’s your marinating go to? Sear then cook seems to be popular. I want to smoke it/slow cook it so I’ll probably try it this way first

How did it turn out? I've always had them served like a steak, more medium rare. Few I've done I've reverse seared and just used Santa Maria type rub
