Not a surprise. Pace and Nagy riding their guys.

I like Trevathan too so yay.

Trevathan is better than Nick, but Nick is younger with his arrow pointing up.

Guess they're all-in on Kevin Pierre Louis.

We're still in "window is now" mode...Trevathan makes way more sense.

:noidea:

He turns 30 here in a week or so.

Don't be surprised when he only plays half the season.

We'll have to see. Trevathan has a lot less mileage on his body than typical linebackers at this point. We've seen the best of the best fall off at 30 (Urlacher)...but right next to him Briggs was fairly solid in his 30/31/32 years...sooo, you never know. Very possible Trevathan might not see past year 2 of this contract.

I'm ok with it, cuz I think we have decent depth, and I didn't want to see them overpay for Kwit, but it's gonna be kinda annoying seeing him in Green Bay.

My issue is that Trevathan has endured quite a few major injuries. Briggs (up until the very end) was pretty much always healthy.

We're still in "window is now" mode...Trevathan makes way more sense.

Kwit is 27. He's in his prime. He makes sense for "win now". Maybe more sense than Trevathan.

I just tend to think our management/coaching sees Danny as not only a freak talent but a leader that can't be replaced...It's why I was almost sure we went this way instead of Kwiatkowski.

It's not what should be sometimes...It's what the people in charge think should be. I don't disagree that Kwiatkowski was probably the better choice...but Pace/Nagy/probably McCaskeys too love them some Danny T.

Pompei now reporting that the Bears tried to retain Kwit but that his agent was determined to test the open market.

Kwit balled last year. Period. In limited play, he stood out.

Trevathan is a stud, but I like good-to-great youth over proven-but-aging vet in most cases.

If he's healthy, Trevathan is 3x the player Kwiat is on his best day. The trouble is that nasty little word 'if'. Can we count on a 16 game Trevathan? I highly doubt it.

This was the right move. Kwit is primed to get overpaid. Danny comes back on what I assume is a team friendly deal and the Bears can develop depth behind him.
