Two guys the Niners reportedly were trying to sign to long-term deals this offseason: Culliver & Kaepernick.

Now all of a sudden trouble has found its way into both of these guys' lives. Coincidence? The tin-foil-hat-wearing paranoid psychotic in me says of course not. Did Baalke pay off some bicyclist to take one for the team? Did he pay off some... actually, I haven't read the TMZ story... whoever's involved in whatever this is surrounding Kaepernick?

If you can't find a bargain in FA you make one yourself! Well done Trent.

Culliver will probably be released and either Kaep is charged and he's gone or the story goes away and we end up paying him about the same. Baalke should regret not going after a CB in FA. It's going to be hardtop find a couple starters in the draft. Definitely possible, though.

I strongly doubt that they will release Culliver. And there's almost no chance they drop Kaep even if he's charged. Maybe they let him go after this season - no court case would be resolved by then anyway - but they aren't cutting him. That's not how the league works.

Two air balls there.

1. Culliver is not going to be released. Even if he misses a season in prison, the Niners still have the rights to him for another season at a dirt-cheap price. They're not going to just throw that away to score points in the media.

2. If Kaepernick is charged with r*pe he will not be "gone." Pro' athletes don't get cut for r*pe charges, and they certainly don't get convicted of r*pe (unless they're already retired).

You're completely forgetting about him getting Aldon Smith liquored up to get another DUI and sending him to rehab to avoid league punishment during the softest part of our schedule.

Not to mention he was probably the one that started all the trouble at Aldon's house party and tipped off the police that he had guns.

Harbaugh better watch out if the extension talks continue to not go well or he'll find himself passed out in a stolen car, drunk and naked with a stripper and illegal guns in the trunk.
