Ask and you shall receive...but Tanner Hudson was the casualty, not one of the backup offensive lineman.

I think he'll end up back on the PS and likely be a game-day elevation. Burrow loves him. Now that they only have 4 TE's with Gandy moving on to Minnesota...with how much this team likes to use their TE's, they are going to want all of them active. Especially considering Gesicki is really just a big WR and doesn't line up inline all that often, if really ever.

All in all - I still think they could use a veteran OT...the kid they got has really nice upside, and after a rough pre-season last year, showed growth this year. He's big, he's long, and he's athletic. If he continues to grow...Bengals may have something...but for the short-term...you'd rather have a veteran who could slide in and be more readily available.

Should that occur....I think you see Foster be the odd man out as Rivers is still seen as primarily a swing IOL/OT guy.

Official - Hudson back to the PS....as a vested veteran he wasn't subjected to waivers...so, as stated above, I think he ends up being a steady game-day elevation.

The Bengals have really, really good depth at QB, which is a big-time rarity in today's NFL. Flacco deciding to return, and then landing Johnson as 3rd QB is just something you don't see a ton of with such an experienced starter, not to mention ELITE level talent at QB1...

Bengals grab Blake Freeland for backup OT, it would appear. Former 4th round pick of Indy played in 25 games, 9 starts, all at OT. Fractured his leg last year and missed the season. Still has some upside while also adding some experience at the position.

He made some really good plays. I think he needs more consistency. I also think with Iosavas and Colbie - he was the 3rd option for an outside WR spot. Meyer can also line up there some...I think he saw the writing on the wall that his opportunities here were not going to be as clear cut as they were last year. I don't blame him one bit. When you are in that boat, you have to go where the opportunities are going to be most likely.

I can't remember what week it was, but he was given a shot to start and Burrow threw a deep ball to him and he let up not realizing the ball was coming his way. That is when he blew his opportunity.

I doubt that specifically was the point. I also remember his two TD catches which were Ja'Marr Chase comparable. He had the talent to squeeze his way into the #3 role, but he would give up on plays that you are describing because it didn't come to him enough to boost his confidence. So when Burrow took that chance, he was giving up. Definitely doesn't inspire confidence from your all-pro QB. I think he is a good WR, but he was a victim of numbers and fresh stories. Colby was drafted, and Meyers was the feel good story and was doing everything he could to seal a spot. That drive from Atlanta overnight to play catch with Burrow is top shelf.

It was between Tinsley and Williams, kinda surprised Williams got the nod, but then again, Williams may be on the INACTIVE list most all Sunday's, so this also may have been a chance for Tinsley to find himself a place he can earn a job on the ACTIVE list at some point. I don't know. He signed to the practice squad of the Texans, not sure why he wouldn't have come back to the Bengals practice squad at least if he is going to be starting off there.

Could be. If I had to take a guess, it would be Colbie as he would be the 2nd or 3rd option on the outside with ability to split out Gesicki and Iosavas, who will both be active.

And the Bengals typically had 4 guys for TE active on game-days last year...Gandy was inactive a few times, and likely only played if another TE was unavailable. My guess is that either All or Endries will be inactive on game-days, with Hudson being a regular elevation for that 4th TE spot.

You can also bet that at least 1 DT is going to be inactive with the rotation looking like: Lawrence/Slaton at NT and BJ/Allen at 3T (Of course, BJ could be the early inactive as he works his way back from injury). Regardless...you won't need both Robinson and Jenkins active, and Stewart will be inactive for a week or 2 as he continues to work his way back from injury as well. They are deep at the DT/DL spots, so I wouldn't be shocked if we saw a couple of guys inactive there.

Don't you have to cut someone to put them on practice squad to elevate someone else? Or you have to have an injury that allows you to move a practice squad guy up without exposing a 53 man roster player to practice squad eligibility allowing another team to sign them to their 53 man?

No, you have your inactives from your 53, but then you are allowed 2 game-day PS elevations per week. However, I do believe there is a limit to how often you can call them up ... so, there could be some roster gymnastics involved...

However, it is reasonable to note that if Hudson is doing well the first few weeks and someone has a TE go down, someone could steal him from the PS and add him to their 53 man.

This is true...but, the reality is...he's a backup. Can't worry about losing guys off the PS, sure it would be nice to keep them all and develop them, but when you have 4 other really good TE's, two of which look to be part of your long-term plans...it is what it is.

I read that Tinsley hooked onto the Texans practice squad. We can all exhale a sigh of relief now. he's gonna be a pro bowler in 3 or 4 years.

I think it's pretty clear that Young will start the year on the bench. He is a rookie and he was still somewhat raw coming in from college. I have high hopes for him and think he can play in this league, but given the experience at receiver, it's hard for me to see where he would fit in this year. As @Cincyfan78 said, Williams will be our returner so I expect he'll be active in every game. I think Meyers will get some snaps out of the slot and in certain packages, but I don't expect high volume for him at first.

There are a lot of moving parts here though - If Yoshi is underwhelming and/or continues to drop the ball, I could see Young being elevated for a chance. Also, if Williams doesn't add much as a returner and we begin to have injuries that require us to have more flexibility with activies/inactives, I could see Meyers being given a chance in the return game. But, keep in mind..... In Darren Simmons mind, the most important quality for a returner is ball security. If Simmons doesn't feel fully comfortable with Meyers back there, then we won't see him in that role.
