Rams trade for Cooks, best WR on the field yesterday in the biggest game

Rams trade for Fowler, he makes the pressure on Brees in overtime for the pick, great addition

Rams trade for Talib, he provides instant leadership and leads a defense to shutting down the opponents running game and makes people forget Michael Thomas is on the field

Rams did do a great job of trading. But it’s really hard to tell. For every Fowler and Cooks there’s a Brees and Reggie White.

If your team’s window is open, trading picks for proven vets make a lot of sense.

Depends how you evaluate your window. Doesn't make sense in all circumstances- as cheap talent is what drives wins more than anything.

Can’t wait to see what your boy gets. They get an MVP QB for 3-4 more years for very little. 1/4 billion?

People who talk in absolutes about trade are always BS'ing you. Works in politics and football.

It worked out for the Rams because Snead nailed the draft with Goff, Donald, Havenstein, Gurley, Joyner, etc. When you nail the draft, then you can win with trades but you have to nail the draft first. Even then, you have to get the right guys.

Would guess somewhere around 20% of the cap of the given year. So around 50 a pop by then.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Chiefs are expected to extend Patrick Mahomes' contract after next season.
That's the earliest the Chiefs can offer an extension. The 23-year-old Texas Tech alum has taken the league by storm, throwing for over 5,000 yards this year while becoming just the third player in NFL history to reach 50 touchdown passes in a single season. There's not much Mahomes can't do on a football field and it wouldn't be surprising if he became the league's first $200 million player.

Absolutely, and especially in mid to late round drafting, imo. The high picks are great if you hit them and they have to fit into your team plan. The pieces around those stud picks often determine a teams success. That eye for talent and how they fit on your team goes to trading and signing FA's as well. A lot of castaways turn into good players in the right environment.

Rams did get Andrew Whitworth, Robert Woods, and John Sullivan in free agency last year who have been key contributors.

It basically comes down to getting good players and taking advantage of opportunities when they present themselves whether through trades or free agency.

They certainly knew the right time to hit the NOS to get to the finish line. Some teams want to go from s**t to SB in one year, and they end up blowing their load & getting to 9-7 before they have to cut everyone. Rams did it right. I've been saying all offseason they're the best team in football and that Goff is gonna make a lot of people who trashed him as a rookie look stupid.
