that's where the "im not keeping him anyway" part comes in

I've had Shady since year 1 in this keeper league, thru sickness and thru health

it was time to move on, this latest issue just sealed it

If he doesn't get suspended then someone can draft him, because Monkey had safer options for keepers. Your to caught up with worrying that someone will benefit, which is foolish because McCoy is going to be available in any case. Getting a benefit for him really is a no brainier.

my argument was never about your value, you are getting something for a player that you would drop... I am just questioning whether you are helping the other team too much... at least potentially... I mean if he wanted him, see what he would have given up for him...

too late now... the trade is good for you... just hope that it wasn't better for the other owner...

When considering a trade, the thing that counts is...does it benefit your team and/or is it the best deal you can get for the player offered. In this case the answer is yes to both, it benefits Monkey and pretty sure he was actually lucky to get the offer.
A good trade is one were both sides are happy. Not wanting to do a trade because your worried your trade partner may get lucky instead of getting stuck is just wrong.
It's no surprise you do so few trades given your mind set of worrying about your trade partner possibly doing well on the trade.

its not that I wouldn't do it because I am worried... it is I wouldn't do it because the 9th round is bench fodder(again, my opinion changes if he can start more than 6 WR and RB combined), and I don't want to help another team, when my reward is so little... even if I am giving up nothing....

The absolute best case in this for the other owner is that McCoy is proven completely innocent and not suspended. Even in that scenario, McCoy is only worth a mid to late 2nd rounder.

And I am guessing you haven't seen the picture. Because it makes Ray Rice look like a damn saint. Whoever did that needs to go to jail for years. Goodell ain't letting Shady skate this if he so much as suspects the allegations are true.

your right I haven't seen it... but honestly, that wouldn't change my opinion... Call it being cautious, call it being a wuss... call it whatever... but if I am going to potentially help a team by giving him a top 20 player(if he plays) then I need to at least get a player I intend to start back(you may say, there is limited difference between a 8th rounder and a 9th rounder, but at least that 8th rounder may be intended to start)... IMO a 9th rounder is no different than a 12th rounder in a 10 team league... i like getting high upside on my bench... i don't fear just throwing the player i don't want back into the pool...

You are failing to consider the opportunity cost.

Monkey is already getting that player with his second round pick.

So even if he uses the extra pick to draft an elite kicker, he is coming out ahead. Because McCoy isn't even a great value in round 2 before all this.

And lastly, the benefit to dealing Shady vs. throwing him back in the pool is that the other owner might make the mistake of keeping him in the second round.

    Lastly,

This beating was so awful that the backlash will be deafening if Goodell allows McCoy to play while the investigation drags out.

The commissioner's exempt list is calling Shady. This is AP all over again. Guilty or not, McCoy is highly unlikely to play more than 10 games, if at all this year.

he would be getting that player in the second no matter what... as the options were to make the trade or to drop him... and keeper value is different because there will be top 20 players being taken in later rounds, so to get a top 20 player in the second round may still have value... especially if the owner knows he picks at the end of the 2nd round...

and lastly, and this was my biggest point that I think I wanted to make... If an owner shows interest in a player with this much baggage, he would have probably given up even more... no reason not to even ask, when worst case is the trade gets taken down...

monkey is definitely better with the trade, but how much?? and the other team just could be getting the better of it...

I wish I could think of a good example for an analogy of what I think of this deal... but I just cant...

again, I don't hate the trade, I just wouldn't do it, because I like drafting sleepers, I don't need that extra 9th...

that's what I was trying to say yesterday. Doesn't really matter how long it SHOULD take to sort things out, and find the truth. What matters is the league and the Bills can't have that kind of PR between now and then. The protests, the boycotts of sponsers, every question at every presser being about Shady..unless there's something awfully quick exonerating him fully, it's best he just stays home

Also, the other owner made it clear he wasn't offering much, so hustling him for 8th vs 9th isn't as important to me.

Always feel like I have a good draft advantage in this league, a few owners just play to be in league, not sharks like these boards
