Scroll down a ways and you'll see some old timers like Esa Tikkanen and Christian Ruutu. Tikkanen looks like he needs to go on a diet.

So tired of seeing Blake and his cronies in there - Glen Murray, Nelson Emerson (he ranks #2 on my "Shittiest Players Ever to Don an LA Jersey" list only behind J-Blow), etc.

It was nice to get a glimpse of Mike Donnelly, him, Granato and Corey Millen were one of the fastest lines ever to play for LA.

Emerson was huge huge pile of worthless

I remember when we were on the ESPN boards, there was a poster who was related to him (he didn't advertise it but did mention it once or twice. Distant relative). I ripped on this guy so hard he sent me an email/message defending him and saying the Kings wouldn't have won Game 6 of the 2001 playoffs if it weren't for Emerson.

True, he did assist on Murray's OT goal (Kings won 1-0) but it was a cross ice pass between the red and attacking blue line and Murray's shot was one that Roy wished he would have gotten back and didn't give up to LA again this series (Kings lost 4-3).

The conviction this guy came at me with was classic, I sat back and laughed when I would get an inbox from him. I don't remember his name if you're reading...Nelson Emerson still sucks dog balls.

Dude was so terrible, he switched jersey numbers 3 times the whole basically 1½ seasons he was here spanning 3 seasons (124 total games) thinking that would change his mojo.

I would imagine 2001 would have been a much better season overall without Emerson, just because he got that A doesn't mean someone else wouldn't have or that that game would have even been in OT if he wasn't there. I know im stretching it a bit, but had LA had just about anyone else there it could have only been good

If I recall, the Kings gave up Kaberle and Audette for him and Buchberger. Audette could score but he was due a new contract and I don't think the Kings were going to pay him what he wanted and Kaberle was a 4D at the time, he hadn't really established himself as a true NHL player. The Kings gave up pure scoring and depth for some scoring (Nelson) and some grit (Buchberger).

Buchberger was serviceable here, he always stood up for his teammates and gave it everything but he got his lunch handed to him on a nightly basis. Pretty pathetic deal looking back on it now because that is all the Kings got out of it while Audette went on to score 32 goals the following season and Kaberle became a pretty good passing defender (didn't he score the GW goal for the Canes' Cup in 2006?).

Emerson was just useless in LA all around. Injured, never quite fit in, didn't produce but Blake was still here and he is the one who lobbied for him since he was his roommate/teammate at Bowling Green in OH. Blake burned the Kings yet again in another form.
