It was very unintentional but it did look like the shoulder hit his head... But its such a stupid rule that if you line up a guy properly and he drops his head YOU get in trouble... Like boxing "protect yourself at all times"...

it wasnt as bad as some of his previous hits. That said, the head is the principle point of contact, the player had gotten rid of the puck, torres was going out of his way to make the hit, and he did not attempt to avoid hitting his head.

I would expect a moderate suspension of 5 to 10 games, especially since silfverberg is not injured. With no record it would only be around 2 games, but with Torres, it will be longer. Truth is the rule is that the hitter is most responsible to avoid the head. Torres didnt do that and though he didnt seem to throw the elbow, leave his feet, or target the head intentionally, he is still guilty under the new rules, and he will be suspended. Truth is, this will be his 5th suspension and for a hit in the preseason, so its not exactly a coincidence. There are alot of heavy hitters with 1 or no suspensions. Torres is a dirty player, has been his whole career, and he'll be punished accordingly.

It was a rep call and he will get suspended for it though I think it will only be 3 to 5 games. The initial contact was shoulder to shoulder but as he drove through the hit he made head contact and the league will spout some garbage about the angle that he took to make the hit and suspend him.

Agree with you. Also, blatant head shots must not have existed back in the ancient times of 2006, according to that great, well-run NHL league office. Sharks fans in general hated him before he came to San Jose.
