Buffalo at 12-6-2
Montreal at 11-6-3
Vancouver at 10-10-2

I saw all three of these teams at the bottom of the standings at the start of the year. I fully expected the Canucks to be at 5 wins only by this point

Honourable mention to

Pittsburgh at 7-8-3... With that firepower I'd expect a way better record...

Wild being 2nd in the WC Central and 2nd overall in points. They're supposed to be fighting for a wild card, and possibly missing out.

Buffalo is hanging in there. Definitely didn't think that would be the case.

Todd McLellan hasn't been fired. Or Chia, for that matter.

I see both Stanley Cup finalists are out of a playoff spot. Guess you'd have to have been crazy to think that possible pre-season.

I'm not surprised by Vegas at all. A hangover and everyone knows what to expect from them now. They also lost a few pieces from last year (players who probably played way over their heads) but both.those teams will come about

They are old, still believe in Murray, signed JJohnson and Rutherford is still in control. Some of us saw this year coming

Nate Schmidt is back from his 20 game suspension for PEDs and he made an immediate impact (in a positive way) for the Knights last night. Of course, the opposition was Edmonton, but still, he was sorely missed on the backend. Also, Fleury was unreal between the pipes for Vegas last season and this year, he's come back down to earth somewhat.

Considering Price hasn't been very good at all, Montreal is a surprise.

I would say the Islanders are a surprise, currently 2nd in the Metrosexual division, I thought the loss of JT would have been tough to overcome, but they have some talented youngsters on that team and Barry Trotz is one of the best coaches in the league.

I expected the Isles to start well, but not this good. I think they must have banded together to show that Tavares wasn't the whole team.

Yeah, that Trotz hire by the Islanders was good. If he gets them to the playoffs the season after they lost Tavares he just might be the Adams Trophy winner.

One is out of playoff position by one point... with a game in hand. Not exactly panic mode time. Nor did I say the prediction was crazy. I just thought it was wrong and the basis of your reasoning wasn't sound because...

-"Highly doubt Carlson finishes anywhere near last season's production." Carlson was at 0.83 ppg last season and is up to 1.06 ppg this year. You're right - nowhere near last year so far!
-"3 of their 5 top scorers last year are 30+" Ovechkin and Oshie both in the top 30 in goals scored with OV likely a contender for the Richard yet again. Backstrom 25th in points. All three doing what they do as always.
-"Holtby was awful in the regular season last year" He's been very average although it's more the defense in front of him that's been mediocre. But again, they did make the playoffs with Holtby not being stellar last year, so this is a terrible argument anyway.

Why do I get notifications when someone uses metrosexual here?

I thought it was case closed after they beat Boston 7-0 on October 3?
