Brady and Garoppalo.

I keep reading maybe he should be traded.
What do you think?
What is he worth? 2nd rounder?
Next years first? Next years first and this years third?

I'm just throwing shit out there, but what do you think?

Matt Hasselback was just released and he is a serviceable back up. Tough and gritty, lots of experience even if he couldn't beat the Steelers /refs tag team.

Ryan Mallet was brought in never played and then let go with never an ounce of value redeemed. If Jimmy G is never going play with Brady extending his contract, should the Pats trade him and nab someone else?

I know you guys are all thinking something.

Why would they release Jummy and bring in Hasselback who doesn't know the offense? I get that Jimmy probably won't be playing any time soon but I would rather him as the back-up over Matt.

he hasn't played so no team would give up anything more than a 3rd rounder imo

Not release...trade.
Brady is not going anywhere and has played tough.
Hasselback is tough as well.
Trade Jimmy for more picks to either shore up that OLine or some nasty defenders.
Not saying we should, just throwing it out there.

They just extended Tom two more years. You still need a credible backup and Jimmy G is it unless another team can make it worth the Patriots while.

Sorry, typed fast (while working, while on phone duty) "trade"

More draft picks would be nice but I don't think they would get anything for Jimmy worth it

IF they trade him, Cassell is a FA and he knows the system and is still friendly with the guys. I don't think they trade him. They used a 2nd rd pick on this kid..would be a problem (for me anyways) if he walks when they passed on some pretty dam good football players, Jarvis Landry was taken right after him.

1st rd- Easley
2nd rd- Jimmy G
3rd rd- Brandon Linder
4th rd- Stork, White, Fleming
6th rd- Halapio, Moore, Thomas
7th rd- Gallon.

LOL..only 5 guys from the draft on the team and Fleming was a PS/cut guy last yr...amazing!! Also who is Brandon Linder???

Mike Reiss is saying the same thing this morning.
If a team will give a future first rounder then great.
If not keep him.
I just hate the idea of him waiting out his contract and walking away, but that is the gamble in the NFL.
Trading Cassel is not the norm.

It wouldn't be the worst gamble in the world though. He has shown enough that I think some team if he did walk would pay him pretty good money. Good chance you would get at least a 3rd round comp pick back for his services. Yes not quite the 2nd you used to draft him but for 4 years of knowing you have a solid back up if needed I would say probably worth it.

latest rumor this morning...............

New England Patriots and the Cleveland Browns are discussing a trade that will send Jimmy Garrappolo to the Browns for the Brown first pick in second round of the 2016 draft (#32). If the Patriots hadn't been swindled out their 2016 1st round pick it would have been #30. There may also be a 4th or 5th rounder included.

Very interesting but......
Looking possible that Brady might sit out 4 games right now. Might take months to hear the verdict.
Want to trade JG and find out we don't have Brady?
I'm not predicting the suspension but I'm not betting against it either.....

Bigken, where did you hear this rumor? I have heard nothing on any of the NE Ohio sports talk shows. Would be a big deal, if true. Since the Browns' second draft pick comes after the Patriots normal first round choice at #29, Goodell can't take it away. Browns will be cutting Johnny Manziel and Josh McCown is 35, so it would be a good move for them.

It was being discussed on Sports Tonight in detail. They were prefacing everything with "this is only a rumor".

No one would even hint to where it was originated. That means one of two things. (One) Some one in the Patriots organization told someone. (Two) These guys were making it up to have something to talk about.

Either way, it was picked up and repeated on NESN Sports Center newscast. My guess is that it has some juice.

The problem is especially right now and a week before the draft are the worst rumor times in the NFL. Heck teams put out rumors like that just to mess with other teams. They try to make them overpay for a potential FA thinking that just maybe this rumor could be true. With the whole deflategate thing going on I can't see the Patriots moving Jimmy this year. It would take a great offer for that to happen. Now given early 2nd round pick is a decent offer but I'm not sure it is enough with all that is going on. I think it would take a mid-1st for the Patriots to even entertain the idea.

Not Belichick, he would never do that.

Just ask Josh McDaniels.

Bill even went so far as to hire Tebow temporarily to show Josh he wasn't screwing with him.
