Oh man this is huge!!! We finally have that great safety who isn't afraid to hit. I wanted him or Byrd and Ward will be a lot cheaper is my guess so very excited to have him join this team!

Looks like he is signing for $5.5 million a year. That is a bargain if I ever saw one. He is rated higher than Whitner by just about everybody and Whitner got $7 million a year. Elway does it again!


On the Byrd over Ward thing. I think 2 things factored into us not going as hard after Byrd 1) The money obviously has to be a concern. You can only have so many big contracts on the team. 2) Position fit...Byrd is a FS while Ward is a SS. Although Moore is no Byrd he is closer to Byrd than Ihenacho is to Ward. So this gives us the better Safety tandem in my opinion. Plus this gives us that huge intimidator that we have been wanting. Byrd isn't known for big hits where Ward makes a living on them.

You hit it cd. I think Ward fills a much bigger void, as we'll have Moore on the other side of him. I did like what I saw from Ihenacho up until about week 6, but he was all over the place after that, and showed he may not be ready.

What were the final contract details here? I can't find anything yet?

Looks like the deal is 4 years/$23 million with $14 million guaranteed. So making less than Antoine Bethea and Whitner who both play the same position yet Ward graded out better than either of them. Again Elway with the magic.
