He's a great back, as the Titans do not win 11 games this year with a lesser one, but I'm pretty confident that we're going to see a decline as early as next season, given the workload he's taken on the past couple seasons.

Overall, I still believe giving RBs big contracts or drafting one any higher than the 3rd round is a mistake in today's NFL.

The game has become so pass oriented and a team can have a great running game with average backs if the scheme and blocking are good enough.

While I agreed the Titans were put in a corner to extend Henry and Tannehill...it didn’t give them much flexibility to make this defense better and Clowney was an AWFUL signing. RB’s can only take you so far. 18 carries for 40 yards and like @Diamondeye pointed out...he has a huge workload and he won’t last long. We will see next year without covid and injuries and maybe they can build up this defense. It still stands paying a RB (even one putting up the numbers Henry did) does not pay off for a team MOST of the time.

and thats why you dont get behind a one dimensional back for the kinda money.

That kind of money?

He the best RB in the league and is nowhere near paid like the best RB in the league. They have him on a great deal.

Too much money for a one dimensional rb. Just my opinion. Your free to yours.
25.5 million guaranteed, so it's not a contract that will hamstring a team. I also believe you can get away with that position on the cheap, but I don't run a team, nor do I want to.

they did it. I think all the guaranteed Money is done after next year so if he falls off they should be ok cap wise

I agree....he's the closes thing we have since since Beast-Mode.

And it's not a crazy deal. They had a great run last season, this recently ended season not so great but the defense wasn't anywhere close to last season.

Its crazy that Henry and Tannehill have had an excellent year and a half and the Titans were 28th in time of possession last year.

No one worried about henry and falling off a cliff. I know hes built like a brick house. But man........holy touches. We know about the 300 touch curse...hes beat that thus far. Also been some analysis that the 1800 carry mark in the pros is the unbeatable one as of now, guys hit this and just continue to decline sharply. Back to back 300 carry season, and this one was 378 and 19 receptions, 3 short of 400.

College:
602 rushes, 17 receptions=619 total

Pro:
1182 carries, 76 receptions=1258 total

Just increasing usage yearly......crazy.

Yeah. This made me concerned about any extension. But I think after this year they have little risk left in cutting him if he falls off a cliff

well that makes sense , i admit i have no clue on the contract.

But there is always a guy that comes along and his body just deflects all the wear and tear like armor. Emmit smith I think had 4 consecutive 400 touch seasons......there are scattered guys that do....just not even close to the norm.

Yea and running backs don’t even matter

Sam McGuffie a white blaze, Noel Devine, Reggie Bush high school videos amust see, as is Derrick Henry's, but unlike those guys who were agile and elusive, Henry was a bull in a china shop, the biggest guy on the field totally destroying the "kids" yep, a man vs boys.

Noel Devine

@SteelersPride still going to try to act like it was a bad contract?

On his way to the greatest season ever for a RB 2 years into his 4 year deal that didn't even gave him close to being the top paid RB in the league.
