You answered your own question. He was a FA.

If Miami was gonna move on from him why not trade him before he becomes a FA? QB is the most sought after position in football. Surely a guy who can start would net a return.

They had a coaching change, who knows when the decision was actually made to move away from Tannehill. Besides, he only played in 11 games last year; was he hurt at the time of the trade deadline? I don't recall...

Adam Gase is so bad.

Tannehill wad a late convert to the position and needed good coaching and time to develop. Then he got hot mess Gase.

It's the Dolphins. They have no idea what they are doing. They can't even tank right.

I don't think Tannehill is anything special still. But I think that subtracting Mariota was a major upgrade. He was one of the most inaccurate QBs I have seen in years.

The Titans team has also drafted pretty well. They have a pretty good offensive line and some nice young players in Derrick Henry and A.J. Brown among others. Those guys both look like Pro Bowl talents.

Tannehill gets the Titans to the playoffs and with the Pats losing to the Dolphins in New England, that looks like a very winnable game for Tennessee this weekend.

And the Jets are gonna keep Adam Gase...

...LOL.

Tannehill undefeated against Brady in New England in the postseason. GOAT.

But seriously, these Titans are gonna be tough to beat.

He made some nice throws tonight, that 3rd down was huge... BUT Henry is the workhorse, he's legit..

Don't let the Dolphins uni fool you. He's a decent QB.
I was not a believer of his even going back to college. He's completely shown me to be wrong.

have you seen tanny's numbers
We all know you are a Tanny hater and how much you love tyrod Taylor. I think you are quickly losing legitimacy on your judgement here....as there is no comparison at this point. The problem in Miami was no oline and gase is simply retarded. He was left for sacrifice. Not saying he's top tier but in the right situation he can win in this league.

The Fins did receive a draft pick I believe a 5 and possibly more based on how he does. Miami made the move as part of the rebuild saving cap. Still wish Tanny the best.

Question is does Mariota line up at his more natural NFL position which is WR next weekend.

They actually received a 4 and 7 gave back a 6. Dumped his cap as well. Gase badly damaged the man so value was low no one knew if he'd even be healthy again.

I always thought Tannehill was pretty serviceable even before going to the Patriots. I was pretty unsure of him when he entered the draft because of only 1 year college experience at QB (think he did WR for 2 years?) but optimistic.

Anyway, Miami is a complete shit show of an organization so no surprise he got bashed there and Miami gave him away for nothing.

I remember when Tennessee got him I thought he'd be a better option than Mariota because Mariota can't stay healthy. That said, this playoff win was ENTIRELY due to Henry... Tannehill didn't even crack 100 yards and almost fumbled the game away (potentially) at the end.

Well, I don't think yesterday was very stellar but he made a couple of plays here and there and they won the game. That's all that really matters for now. I don't think you can read too much into Tannehills preformance yesterday. The Pats secondary is very good and tgere weren't really any receivers open so the stat line will suffer. Especially with the way Henry dominated the game. Tannehill's int was horrible though. Just a bad decision and terrible throw and the fumbled snap was stupid. Luckily, Henry saved his ass on that one. Tannehill was Kirk Cousins light yesterday.
Now as for what he's done since taking over for Mariota, he's played well. I'll give him that but one has to consider also that anything would be better then Mariota and that again, it has a lot to do with Derek Henry. Tannehill is neither god awful nor all of a sudden elite. He's an average at best QB who landed in a good spot now and isn't playing for a total moron HC named Gase.
He can thank his defense yesterday too. That group only gave up 3 points after the first quarter.

Who said anything about Miami here? Curious? It wasn't me? Others did. But you seemed to only come after me here? Yet I indicated he had elite numbers.. more proof you can't comprehend things in most situations.
