Time to honor the best?

When it comes to the NHL awards,I get a little confused as to some of their omissions.

You have an award for best goalie,d-man and defensive forward.

Why is there no award for best center,right winger and left winger?

You have 2 awards named after so-called second fiddles.The Ted Lindsay award and the Mark Messier award.

I think it's about time 3 of the greatest players ever are merited with awards named after them.

The Wayne Gretzky Award -given to the leagues best center.
The Gordie Howe Award- given to best right winger.You already have the Richard trophy for top goal scorer.

Finally-The Bobby Hull Award-given to the leagues best left winger.
His jumping to the WHA should not factor into this,his NHL accomplishments are more than enough to make him worthy.

Actually,if it were up to me,the Adams should be renamed after Toe Blake.
The Norris after Orr is a no-brainer.Just because them guys gave the league the trophy doesn't mean they shouldn't be renamed accordingly.

IMO-Orr best ever,then Gretzky=Lemieux(too bad Lemieux's career cut short)

Upon further tweeking,screw the Ted Lindsay award,and rename that 1,the Gretzky for best player in league.(this is a no-brainer,for the life of me,I can't figure out why Lindsay is associated with this)

Then have the Lemieux Award for best center.

Hockey fan first,and I appreciate talent regardless of what team they play for.

In a perfect world,Crosby,St.Louis,Stamkos,etc would be in black and orange.

Crosby still takes a back seat to Giroux,JVR,and the rest of the Flyers for me.

I always liked the Smythe, Norris, Adams, and Patrick Division names, and maybe with the proposed re-alignment for the 2012-2013 season, the league could honour some of the greats by re-naming divisions.

I could be down with Dionne, Gretzky, Howe divisions in the West and Orr, Lemieux, and Bossy divisions in the East...

I think you mean Black and Gold (or campaign or whatever the %&*! it is). It's cool, same state, common mistake. 2014 Olympics will be epic though!

In all fairness, I love watching Ovechkin, Stamkos, Perry, Datsyuk and the rest play even though they aren't 'my team.' Rivalries are great for the sport, and guys ike that make it more exciting. I even like Danny Briere when he's not celebrating in the Console Energy Center - ties to Buffalo.
