Padres said to be front-runners for his services.
He will embarrass the Padre hitters during Padre BP, but will get tagged when he actually enters a game.
Agree. Dude is done. SOMEONE will sign him to a min or minor league deal, but he is effectively done. It's nearly April and he still hasn't had his showcase. I love Timmy, but I'd be very, very afraid.
In general, sure. But in this case? Not at all.Stands with Kerry Wood as proof that, if enough people say your mechanics are REALLY fucked up...
....MAYBE you should listen.

Timmeh is a very unique pitcher. He was basically a gymnast, which allowed him to use his odd delivery. He was able use his entire body to put force on the ball in a way a "normal" pitcher was not able to do. His delivery never lead to his injury.
He lost effectiveness because he got older and lost the flexibility required to make his delivery effective. His injury was a genetic defect, not stress-related.
Back away from the phone Preller.
Smart front office. They see the success the Giants have had, and they are going to copy their Lincecum strategy. The Padres are thinking something in the 4-5 year range.

Grossly over-pay Timmeh on a way-too-long contract.
Next stop, Panda-ville.
Preller is convinced Zeets can be lured out of retirement to be an effective fifth starter.
