Thunder and Patrick Patterson agree to a buyout...

It means that OKC goes under the lux tax threshold this season! Patterson is expected to sign with the Clippers...

After the buyout, OKC is 1M below the lux tax threshold with 13 roster spots filled... Therefore, there is another trade expected for the Thunder to do where one of their players will be traded for three players coming in... If I was to predict, I would say that the player to be moved will be Schroeder...

Not PG to the Bucks?

Kidding aside, that wouldn't be a shock at this point unless they feel they have a prayer of moving CP and want him as their point guard.

Galinari and his expiring contract will be moved for some decent assets later and in terms of the tax all that matters is where you end the season.

Yep, 3 out of 4 years over the tax still triggers it, so they have to stay under another season. Shouldn't be too hard, as they are in a youth movement (other than one huge contract, lol).

To move other than Schroeder, it would be an idiot's decision by the Thunder F.O... Many reasons:

1. They'll be with two roster spots open until at least January when they need additions in the starting roster.
2. They would need to trade a starting piece out of their core roster when CP3, Gallinari and Adams can provide solid base to add a couple of wings around them and go make the playoffs.
3. They don't need to save anymore cap space, by moving more of their starting roster, they become weaker without gaining any financial benefit...

Im sure Presti is writing all this down.

One should seriously consider, that if indeed is Schroeder that will be traded, he will surely interest the Bucks for two reasons:

1. He was developed under coach Bud with the Hawks...
2. His agent is A.Saratsis (same as Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo) who has exceptional relationships with the Bucks F.O.

Schroeder is a lesser version of Bledsoe.

Trading for him would not make sense.

OK... Patterson's buy out only left 2.2M in OKC's books, which they stretched over 3 years (0.74M annually) ending up just under the lux tax but with only 13 roster spots filled... Normally, the Thunder wouldn't want to waive and stretch Roberson, but instead, just let him expire but surely they can't count on him...

Therefore I believe they'll now surely trade Schroeder and get 3 players in return...

Ilyasova + D.J. Wilson + Divicenzo for Schroeder + a (low) 1st with the Bucks perhaps?

The Bucks will end up 3M into the lux tax with this if they are to promote Mason and Reynolds into the regular roster and fill the two empty spots up, but this can be corrected later with another trade...

The Thunder will be shedding Galinari and Paul in December so the luxury tax is not even in the conversation.

It looks like Woj blew it this time by saying that Patterson is heading to Clippers... Patterson agreed on a contract buyout with OKC at about 40% of his salary (about 2.2M) and is heading ...nowhere!

OKC stretched the 2.2M into the next three seasons (for some 740K per) so that they can go under the lux tax threshold and Patterson is a free agent.

Patterson couldn’t start on the Mexican national team.
