Pros

Over 300 yards of rushing
We were ahead start to finish
Taylor can hit a wide open receiver
Dennard is back
Penalties still running about 50% less over last year
Maher kicked another 50 yard field goal (despite the ruling on the field)
Maher punting (and kicking) just as good as.....what was his name again?
Abdullah sends fears in opposing special teams
Abdullah gets over 10 yards per carry (see Cons for flip side)
Carnes CAN run the option!

Cons

Lack of tackling and toughness on defense
Taylor still looking like deer in headlights at times
Still too dependent on big play
Abdullah only carries the ball 3 times
Still not putting the death nail in the opposition

More pros than cons, prediction for Wisky:

What I'd like to see: Nebraska 17 Wisky 16

What is more probable: Wisky 24 Nebraska 13 (my prayer is for the former)

I would just personally like to see Carnes run that option a few more times before I am certain he can run it like his cousin...........I mean he has run it about 2 times and one time he tossed it to the wrong team and then the other time (tonight) he put it on the money.

I just about had a heart attack when he pitched that with the defender right in his face...that was a LONG pitch

Exactly. It looked like he didn't even look before he pitched it too...........but, it was one hell of a pitch, I will say that. Thinking back to the Tommie Frazier days though, he never pitched one that damn long

couple things on carnes....he has the genes, even though he isn't a blood nephew of frazier....tommie's genes transfer through marriage, so its all good, he has the genes. 2 he ran an option attack in high school i believe. 3......tommie frazier. 4....not taylor. 5. rexy burkhead...i know he doesn't apply to the topic but his name needed to be mentioned

...

That is no new information to me...........that is well-known to every Husker fan across the nation.........

But the fact is, Martinez is the better QB right now.

FIFY

more experienced!!!

there is a difference.... not sure I would say better...

just my opinion... TM has his moments where he shines... but there is the reverse side of that too...

If he throws in the Wisc game as he has done in the last three games... Wisc will have INT's Galore!

My opinion is Martinez is a better option at this point.........in fact, it wouldn't even be a decision for me as head coach as to who I would start. But, I wish we could have played Carnes a little more in the first 4 games to get him a feel for what it's like to play at gametime, rather than what it's like to play in practice.

I also feel that Wisconsin's D isn't that great............UNLV put up 17 and probably should have had more. Wisconsin just hasn't really played a decent offense yet. I think we have the talent to put up 30+ on them........the question of course is, will Taylor have the poise to lead this offense to that kind of output.

BRS.. ain't you supposed to tote the "open competition" line, and say that Taylor's better??

I am irule....... and I am not saying Tm should not start... I am saying that calling him better than Carnes is too strong of words...

I would personally like to see both in the game... possibly at the same time and that would cover both facets of run/pass... LOL

Merge these two and you would have a phenomenal QB... No doubt Carnes needs some playing time to get better... and I hope he is not forced into a game because of injury... but I can recall a few QB's over the years that had to do just that and kept the job...

TM can do way more than he is showing... and he is going to have too... especially now that we are heading into the Big Ten portion of the season.

I just hope Brion stays on board, and keeps fighting for the spot.

I think honestly what we've seen in the secondary is what we're going to have to deal with for the majority of this season. Of course, I am just guessing here..........but we just have so much youth and inexperience back there, it makes it difficult.

They will get better though, and I've already seen them getting better with technique here and there. They just allow too many big plays at this point.
