With how I see the third round and later going, RBs could be scarce, but here is who I am looking at if I end up late first again...
Even though he disappointed me last year, I'm too familiar with the last year is last year effect. It happened to Gurley in 2016. Furthermore, he had the second most rushing yards in 2016. Yes....Jordan Howard.
Why do I feel Howard will turn it around? His offense has to be better. The bears are no longer relying on Kevin White. They now have Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel and that's going to make Kendall Wright's job in the slot a lot easier. There is the possibility of the bears becoming more pass happy, but Howard should have an uptick in touchdowns. It was the same way with Gurley last year where I had this gut feeling and I am feeling this same way about Howard.
Let's look at the other candidates in that range...
McKinnon? He's never had great ypc most games.
Fournette? He may show up more with a more challenging schedule but these teams are going to set out to stop him too. If Jags regress, that hurts him. He's a wild card though, because he didn't really break out last year.
McCoy....the only thing on the bills offense that matters, which is bad.
Cook....He is due to pick up where he left off, but the vikings repeating last year would have to yield that value.
And the bounce-back candidate on that list? None. They were never good, were good already, or were good before getting hurt.
It's Howard who is in the best and only position in this range to bounce back.
