Before kids like Bryce Harper go getting too cocky, the should go back and study players like George Brett.

But,,, what kind of hitting coach will he be? It was just announced that he is taking over that job with the Royals, as of today.

Will this mean that the good times will return to K.C?

its temporary, probably until moose and hosmer figure it out

if they were hitting, the team wouldnt be so desperate

God help everyone if Wil Myers comes up and starts hitting like gang-busters.

If he does, we'll just assume it wouldnt have happened here.

It took Gordon and Butler three years, and now it looks like the same for Hosmer and Moose.

Small sample size caveats apply, of course, but since firing their hitting coaches and replacing them with George Brett the Royals have actually scored fewer runs.
Kansas City scored 4.0 runs per game and hit .261 with a .689 OPS in 50 games before firing hitting coach Jack Maloof. And in 23 games since Brett took over the Royals have scored 3.7 runs per game and hit .247 with a .658 OPS.
None of which has stopped the Royals from praising the job Brett has done, as manager Ned Yost told Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star:
I think it’s gone great. I think Georgie has done a great job, I think him and [assistant hitting coach] Pedro [Grifol] both have done a great job. They’re tireless workers, they’re on top of everything, I think we’re making great progress in a lot of areas.

Hosmer and Moose are both turning it around.

George Brett is validating his status as God

That guy was one of the best competitors, the kind of player you would hate to see in the other dugout. He has done a great job so far.

Too early to panic about the lack of production from the huge stable of young players/prospects yet?

Sorry brah...just saw the Royals thread and was wondering about the current team....(note to self: STAY ON TOPIC, OR ELSE!)

On a George Brett related note, I attended his induction into the HOF....He was inducted with Yount (reason we went) and Nolan Ryan I think. Heck of a class.
