MIAMI -- Miami Marlins crowds should be louder next season, even if they're not bigger.

The attendance-challenged franchise will invite fans to bring musical instruments, bells, whistles and flags to a designated section of Marlins Park in 2019. The move is a way for Marlins fans to show pride in their native countries, celebrate South Florida's cultural diversity and "get loud," according to the team website.

Noisemakers are common at baseball games in Latin countries. The section will be called Comunidad 305 -- Miami's area code and the Spanish word for "community."

If I lived in Miami that would encourage me to not go to any games. I hate when I go to my kids softball games and there is one dumb ass lady ringing cow bells. I couldn't imagine all three Marlins fans doing that.

It makes watching any sport unbearable imo!

They have to think outside the box. They don't draw many people even if they're playing well.

That's a jaded fanbase and I can't blame them. Twice they win the World Series and then the team gets tore down the next year.

Been a lot of damn good players come through Miami, but most of them made their biggest mark elsewhere.

I really wonder what they could have been this year if they didn't trade Stanton and company. Don't think they would win the World Series but they could have been pretty good

Yeah, the syphilis from banging all those NYC skanks is really starting to get to Jeter.

They had to move Stanton. His contract wasn't gonna work down there, and the owner that gave it to him knew he wouldn't be on the hook for it when the big money kicked in.

They traded Ozuna, Gordon and Stanton without getting a single top 100 prospect. They got a decent haul for Yelich, though early returns on Brinson aren't promising.

But if they had kept the team in tact, they didn't have the pitching to contend, but they'd be far from last place IMO.

The team never really recovered from the Miguel Cabrera trade though. They wound up getting nothing for him despite Cameron Maybin and Andrew Miller being highly ranked prospects. Maybin never amounted to anything in Miami and Andrew Miller was a failed starter in Miami, but became a dominant reliever once traded away.

I think the Fernandez tragedy changed the course of the franchise. If he was still alive, I think they wouldn't have gotten sold and they'd try to make a run with everyone. Their lineup was good, with a top ace and good relief. They just needed a better #2 and #3. The old #2 and #3 should've been #4 and #5.

I hope that doesn't include those vuvuzela things. Those things are worse than fingernails on a blackboard.

They should do something similar in Tampa. Anything to liven that mausoleum up would be a monumental improvement.

If I went to a game there and someone was playing a trombone next to me, I'd feel obligated to smash them over the head with it.....
