This has got to be the all-time most boring Week Zero lineup of games in history.

I can't think of a single match-up that looks interesting. At least Week 1 starts early with a Wednesday match-up in Montgomery between Jax St. & UAB.

Playing early is for teams that want/need the publicity. Probably good for recruiting getting on Natty TV.

Still, it's football, man. Beats watching the Kardashians or something (i'm making an assumption here).

Nebrask/Illinois was a good game.....
UCLA vs Hawaii was an OK game. Hawaii couldn't score but they moved the ball. Southern utah put up a fight at San Jose. They couldn't
cash in on some San Jose mistakes. N Mex St vs UTEP is a big rivalry game for those two schools. UTEP is just better.
UCONN at Fresno was going to be a rout. The announcers were polite to UCONN, but it was obvious that they hadn't played a
down last year.

How about that Bud Wilkinson? lol I just found out he wasn't only good at football and hockey, but he also won the Big Ten Medal of Honor in 1937 for GOLF, lol. Mofo was an apparently amazing athlete

What is the spread? What score are you predicting?

Well your Gophers are the bestest CFB program and the bestest university on the planet. So I would expect Minnesota to be 28.5 point favorites. Yep, they're that damn good.

Well we are only better than OSU when it comes to research stuff, not football, unfortunately. At least not since the 1960s.

UMn's got a lot of talent returning, but covid skewed things last year, so it's hard to judge whether we just weren't that good or if covid hurt us more than others? I'll assume that we just weren't that good so it might not be as good of a thing that we're returning a lot of players?

OSU doesn't seem to need experienced players?

OSU's QB is just a frosh, right?

Spread is 14

I'm thinking 35 to 14
Well, even in their 11-2 season they started out slow, and other than the PSU game, they seemed to either keep it close but still lose, vs Iowa, or got blown out, vs UW. OSU has been better than both of those teams and better than PSU was that year as well, so I will assume that hasn't changed, so unfortunately I think the Gophers will keep it close for the first 2, maybe 3 quarters, say 21-14 going into half time, but will lose by something like 35-14. I rarely agree with other people's predictions but I'm thinking you nailed this one, unfortunately.

Gophers haven't started the season with a loss for awhile, since losing to either TCU or USC I believe?

that wouldn't surprise me, but I think it'll be closer game than some expect

My serious take:

Scenario for upset is there. tOHSU is breaking in a new QB and it's first game of season. It'll be home game for the gophers who starting senior at QB, very experienced OL, and really good run game.

The conditions for an upset are there....

I don't think it'll happen though. Gophers struggled big time to stop run last year, they did a lot to address that, but I'll believe it when I see it. And I tOHSU has some studs at WR that can exploit MN's secondary. MN will need to stop run and get a good pass rush, both items they struggled with

I have it 38-27 type game however with tOSHU putting away in 4th with
