Confusing timelines, and wasn't as 'epic' as I was expecting.

I give it a solid 'meh'. Probably won't watch season 2.

i had never played/read witcher before. enjoyed the show well enough and bought witcher 3 afterwards and am very much interested in watching season 2.

I'm in the same situation (no game or book), but I had heard of it. I knew it existed as a game. However, now that I read through this thread and understand the timeline better, perhaps I will give it another go. I like these style of shows, but couldn't get in to this one.

I watched the first 3 episodes of the new season and have enjoyed it. The timeline is much more straightforward and you have a story that is easy to follow with all the same characters with a new one here and there.

Finished this season. For the most part, I liked what they did with it. Easier-to-follow timeline for sure--beats the "back and forth" thing--and I felt they did pretty well with the characters and major plotlines this time, rather than the "adventure of the week" thing.

still felt like there was an adventure of the week...but more because wherever they went, there was a monster to be fought.

Halfway through the season and am liking it a lot. I don’t know if they will follow the storyline or not, but they are definitely giving a HUGE wink to the Witcher 3 video game now…

I didn’t play W1 or W2, and haven’t read any of the books.

Were the books based on the games or were the games based on the books? Is the show more based on the books or games? My assumption (based on next to nothing) is that S1 was essentially W1, S2 was essentially W2 and S3 will be primarily W3 (This makes sense with them basically saying the Hunt will be the theme of S3)…

I have played the games and the witcher games are so much fun and very action packed but this series is a little bit of a snooze fest. The last 2 episodes the highlight of the action was two characters getting chased by guards. In the game there are so many monsters, ghosts, dragons, demons, evil humans, etc and you have to fight through all of them.

Games were loosely based on the books as far as I am aware, but tell a bit of a different story. The show seems to be taking parts of both and merging stories a bit. The meeting of all the rulers in the last episode where they decide Ciri must go is from the books I’m reading (one of the first in the series), but I have a feeling next season will have elements of both games W2 and W3… (in some respects it has to)

With Henry Cavill returning to DC as Superman, Liam Hemsworth will replace him as Geralt of Rivia for The Witcher season 4

sucks to hear that, Cavill is perfect for the role.

I think Hemsworth will do fine, but Cavill was all about the series and knew the source material inside and out.

I think the writers kind of pushed him away....and that's dumb
