Rewatching the series right now, and holy shit, I almost forgot how great this show is....best show of all time IMO, just ahead of BB.

I was honestly just considering making a thread on this show.

Just finally watching it for the first time.

On episode 3 of S2. It's great stuff. Transition in the new season started tough learning new characters but the sub plots carried over from S1 are still awesome.

I'd say season 2 was the weakest of all the seasons, which says how good the other seasons were (since season 2 was still good). It started off slow, but towards the end it picked up and was on the whole satisfying.

Get ready for seasons 3-5....those were epic and you won't be able to just watch one at a time.

Tremendous series. If you never watched any of Homicide : Life on the Street, Id recommend it. Both are more than somewhat based of David Simons book, Homicide. And both set in Baltimore. Some actors are carry overs, two of my favorite series for sure.(I love spotting former Wire actors in TV, movies, commercials and such. They're everywhere.)

Before I started watching The Wire, I met Snoop in Vegas in a hotel lobby. My friend recognized her and started telling her how great she was on the show.

Funny thing is, I thought she was a dude until my friend told me she was a chick.

I couldn't get past episode 2. Turned it off bored as HELL.

The Shield blows it out of the water as far as cop shows are concerned. So does NYPD Blue.

Obviously. nothing beats The Sopranos on HBO.

Just finished watching it for the first time. I get all the hype around it now. It was an amazing show. Kinda sad when it was over and I had no new episodes to watch.

The Wire and 24 were my two favorite shows in the early 2000s

Great to see that others love The Wire as well :suds:

You're in a minority opinion there...

That's your loss. The plot is slow moving but that's the structure. The characters, acting and writing are all fantastic. It takes some patience. The show takes a very realistic approach rather than over the top gun battles that simply don't happen like tv/movies make it seem.

The Wire is phenomenal. Really glad they ended it when they did, before giving it a chance to turn into shit like The Sopranos, The Shield, etc.

Deadwood and Rome are two other shows that I was really glad ended when they did.
