Is this the year Nebraska finally has a 1,000 yard receiver? Hope I'm not jinxing this but Westerkamp is on pace right now to have one. A big game on Saturday would certainly help that and it's apparent he's Armstrong's favorite target.

Also can't wait to get DPE back and have 1 more threat out there on offense for opponents to worry about. I think he is missed more than we realize.

Isn't Reilly on pace too?

I know a lot of people like to pretend that DPE is our best receiver but Westerkamp is real good, fellers

DPE>JT

TA is up like 5 points in efficiency this year that's a pretty big deal for receivers hoping to catch a pass from him

A lot of dropped balls this season.

I can't find the total count, but there's been a couple games where there have been 5+

Opponents receivers have dropped a lot of balls as well. Wisky had 7 drops.

I don't know if that's a player or coaching issue.

Can Keith Williams get it fixed?

hovey, haven't heard that name called at all since like week 2. TA just not finding guys that well right now, starting to go back to some old tendencies of not getting through progressions or at least it seems and missing a lot of guys with bad throws.

This is Williams response when asked about drops after the Miami game where the Huskers had 6.

“You explain to them that they’re better than that and you address why they dropped it,” Williams said. “You don’t just yell ‘Catch the ball!’ You talk to them about why they dropped it and what happened on those particular drops, and you put it in their head to where that particular scenario comes back, it doesn’t happen again. You make them focus, you remind them that focus is the first ingredient in catching the ball.”

Of course the WR needs to focus. Seems pretty vague and common sense. How do you "Make Them Focus"? What is your methodology? Do you just tell them to focus? Do they focus in practice?

Williams has the least amount of connection to Riley.

They both coached at the San Diego Chargers, but at different times.

Riley: 1999-2001
Williams: 2008
"Williams also has NFL experience, spending the 2008 season with the San Diego Chargers in a minority internship coaching position"

Most definitely was trending downward in his career prior to his hire here IMHO.

Off topic Listened to the Zone Monday as I was waiting to pick up my Granddaughter. The randomness of carries per game through 6 games for all playing RBs was absolutely telling. It is as if there is no rhyme or reason to it. Might be good to look up the history of the RB's coach as well.

When you read their Bio's they are always way over-flowered with "led the team to this shit-bowl or that shit-bowl. "He's responsible for such and such player breaking a school record".

They don't get down to any depth unless it's something worthy of a gold star.

Here's Cosgrove's Bio. lulz

Ok but the coaches ashould recognize that TA isn't their guy and either play to his strengths.

That's what they said they were going to do last spring. They obviously lied about it.

Even IF they had "their guy", I don't see their system working in the Big 10. Let's be honest, winning the conference is priority #1 if you want to be considered in elite discussion.

There's damn good reason the Big 10 and old Big 8 got the reputation of "Three yards and a cloud of dust". I.E. "Smash mouth football"

What Riley and Co. are trying to do generally works fine left of the Rockies where the weather is considerably milder. However, the chances of windy days and inclement weather increase exponentially across the plains and the mid-west. The chances of errant passes goes up, the chances of WR's having cold hands goes up. The chances of turnovers goes up.
Hanging your hat on the passing game for 12 weeks is fool-hardy.

This is part of the reason for fan outcry against the staff..if we play to our strength at worse were 4-2 really 5-1. TA strength is running his mechanic passing our bad when he feels pressured or simply being lazy. We play in a power run conference throwing 50 times isn't gonna bring many Wins at this point if we continue this bs forced offense were not gonna make a bowl and it will be an truly ugly year bc defense will be on the field more and opponents are simply gonna attack that runway secondary...
