Interesting piece in the article I found

A source close to the situation tells Vavel that Jay Gruden’s job security was the deciding factor for Fangio and that the Redskins refused to give Fangio some sort of guarantee that he would get a chance at the head coach’s job after Jay Gruden or would be the Defensive Coordinator for whomever replaces Gruden in 2016.

I don't think there was much doubt that the future didn't look so bright in DC as it did in Chicago for Fangio and that was the deciding factor.

I couldn't get the link in the OP to work by the way.

This makes a hell of a lot more sense that the initial story that he couldn't bring his own coaches with him.

the skins didnt repeat of the fiasco with gregg williams by promising things they had no intention of keeping

you know what gets me is first you guys buy the raheem morris thing and then when the press back pedals from that lousey piece of reporting you latch on the some other crap about gruden's "job security" which is again speculation

why cant it simply be this ? fangio wants to be an HC and the skins wanted him here long term as DC . fangio wouldnt assure them of that and the skins wouldnt assure him he would be HC so no deal it is most likely that simple

that doesnt mean i dont think gruden is on shaky ground . what it does mean is i think crappy reporting driven by agenda should be dismissed

and look we have barry as our DC , love him or lump him he is ours and we should hope he does well because if he fails it hurts us just like it does when hasllett failed

I agree. Especially with Fangio wants to be a HC ahora mismo. It was probably known before he got off the plane. They figured to give it a shot.

I am starting to come around to the Barry pick. We need a high intensity aggressive coach to counter Gruden's laid back style. Barry has improved in the last 6 years and has gotten more and more praise around the league.
