He's signing with Jax. Great player, but will always be one of those 'what could have been' type of guys due to injury.

Somehow I missed that they signed Gruden as their OC. Interesting move for Gruden - He's basically joining a club that is looking at a new coaching staff if they don't win this year. That's a lot of pressure. But it's also an interesting opportunity with another young qb - He had great success with Dalton and Cousins early in their careers.

Smart by Gruden. If the coaching staff falters but the offense has some level of success, he is in line for an interview for the HC job probably. Didn't he coach a arena team in Jacksonville before coming to the Bengals?

If Eifert is healthy, he is a difference maker. He will never be the same player he was in 2015, but he can be a very effective TE, much better than Drew Sample.

Kind of thought they didn't really let him off the leash last year trying to keep him healthy - and if that was the case going forward - then there is no reason to sign him as it takes away his only ability.

Best of luck - and definitely in the group of "What could have been".

Sure glad we didn’t attempt to move him for a late round pick last year at the trade deadline.

Good thing we didn't move Dalton either.... Wouldn't have had those magical two wins.

Took an offense that went 4-12 the season before, lost their franchise qb, drafted a 2nd round qb, faced an entire offseason lockout and made it to the playoffs with basically one receiving weapon on the outside (a rookie at that). His offense also led the team to the playoffs in 2014 with Dalton, Sanu and a bunch of parts..... Hell, he even brought the Redskins to the playoffs and that franchise might be even more fucked up than the Bengals. I'd say he's pretty darn good.

I thought his offense lacked imagination.

helped draft AJ green, who even the most mediocre of QB's could toss balls up to.

Strike what I said about 2014.... That was Hue.... But my thoughts about Gruden remain the same - I think he did a great job here in Cincinnati and he did a reasonable job for some of his time in Washington. Both terrible franchises..... But, his work with very average qbs should be acknowledged. Look what happened to the Bengals after Gruden and Hue left the building.

Good move for Jax. I think Eifert can still play. He’ll never be what he looked to be in 2015. But still an above average starting TE if healthy.

And yes Jay Gruden is highly underrated as a coach. Damn near impossible to win in DC with that ownership.
