Some notes from Scott Lucas:

Yerry Rodriguez faced the minimum through 3.1, after which eight of the next 11 would reach safely. Opponents are hitting a below-average .222/.324/.367 against him.

Bubba Thompson hit a ball very far.

Sherten Apostel only missed one game after his collision with a baserunner while manning first. He was 1-4 with a walk.

Dropping to AA has not aided Anderson Tejeda (1-4, 2 SO) so far. He's hitting .179/.200/.308 with a higher strikeout rate in AA (55%) than AAA (42%). In 200 plate appearances between MLB, AAA, AA and the alt site, Tejeda has 96 strikeouts (48%).

Hickory allowed only two hits, but one wall-clearing shot off Cole Ragans on a 3-0 count plated all the runs Bowling Green would need. Per Mark Parker, the first time through the order, Cole Ragans threw 24 fastballs out of 34 pitches. The second time, only 13 out of 44.

I have never understood why so many have had Anderson Tejeda ranked so high among our prospects. To me, they have always overrated him to a very substantial degree.

Our young pitchers could use the influence of Greg Maddux over the next few years.

With a split in the bag, sure would be nice and a moral builder to take the series.

I can't figure out why the 1st gives the fits to Allard and Dunning

I wish Willie was more productive at the plate.

I wonder if JD still harbors some ill feelings toward Greg Maddux?

why and about what?
He left on less than good terms. His contract was up. He wanted to see what offers he received before making the decision. JD was less than pleased about that and went in a different direction.

I guess Maddux viewed it as the Rangers had the opportunity to extend him before his contract was up so he had the right to look around. JD obviously disagreed.

Of course, there is nothing to say that Maddux would ever want to coach again or even manage.

Happy for Joe Barlow. He worked a long time to get here.
