Eagles' Josh McCown played through hamstring tear

Eagles' Josh McCown played through hamstring tear

No one questioned Josh McCown's toughness before Sunday's Eagles game, but now we have one more log for the storytelling fire.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported that McCown tore his hamstring off the bone in the second quarter of the 17-9 loss to the Seahawks and played through the injury.

McCown will undergo surgery, with a six-month recovery timetable, Garafolo added.

Wentz tapped out of that game and McCown played with a hamstring tear.

Remember when guys just played thru those hits? Today, players are avoiding being placed in concussion protocol. This guy voluntarily put himself there... during a playoff game!!

I guess the pressures of playing in the playoffs were just too much for him

Wentz reminds me of Jay Cutler quitting on the Bears

Jay Cutler Deserves the Criticism After Quitting During the NFC Championship

"It pisses off players as they watched a guy who was playing for a right to go to the Super Bowl, every player's dream, just walk off the field and give up on his teammates like that, when the majority of them would’ve just manned up and tried to play through it."

Only Eagles QB in last two or three seasons that made in unscathed in Philly was Foles.

Never should have let him get away.

Ok... just to recap: no flag on the play, no stoppage of play by the injury referee instructing Wentz to leave the game to be evaluated, no official on the field viewed Wentz after the play and told him to leave the field to get evaluated despite Wentz playing several more plays including taking another hit and after endless whining from eagles fans that it was a cheap shot the league carefully and thoroughly reviewed the play and determined that the hit did not warrant a fine or suspension. Do I have that right @Jordan23?

    YOU LOSE!

So a torn hamstring by an average backup quarterback = Wentz?

The way I understand it is the only reason Wentz was checked is he self reported. In all honesty I don't have an issue with him doing so because in the end, this is just a game he might play 15 years. A long healthy life is more important right now. It's possible that if the Eagles were SB favorites, he keeps his mouth shut.

And those guys were dumb to do it. You don’t mess around with brain injuries. Wentz wants to have a normal life outside of football. I, for one, am applauding him for realizing his long term health is important.

It's good he got a $140 mil to think of his future and not the Eagles.

Cuz if he hadn't, they might've won.

I give McCown all the respect in the world but I have to imagine a lot of this was because he was the last available QB.

NFL needs to bring back the old 3rd QB designation.

Yes they might have, but do you think the Eagles were even remotely good enough to win 3 more against the best in the NFL?

    I know I don't think they were.
