It will be interesting to see if Danny B keeps the 3 tiny defenseman or which one he will send packing out of Drysdale, York and Andrae.

That's a really reasonable deal. Borderline steal with the cap going up.

Really solid offseason Danny.

They'll be fine once they send Fedotov down (saves us like $1M and change).
And they can always LTIR Ellis.
Its obvious we are not trying to LTIR Ellis since we didn't do it last year and haven't heard they will be doing it this year.

We are 533,000 over the cap so we will be right up against the cap again when we send Fedetov down.

There is an advantage to starting the season with him on IR and then moving him to LTIR. After the season starts, they can move him to LTIR if space is needed.

According to this we are not going to put him on LTIR unless its an emergency cap situation:

Here's a more detailed explanation:
  • LTIR and Cap Space:
LTIR allows teams to exceed the salary cap if a player is expected to be out for the season due to injury. However, it also prevents the team from accumulating cap space during the season.

  • Flyers' Strategy:
The Flyers are in a rebuild and want to maximize their flexibility to acquire assets, either by taking on bad contracts or trading for draft picks. They believe that accumulating cap space throughout the season is more beneficial than using Ellis's LTIR relief immediately.

  • Ellis's Situation:
Ellis has been dealing with a chronic injury and has not played since November 2021. While he is unlikely to play again, the Flyers are keeping him off LTIR for now to potentially use his cap hit later in the season or in a trade, according to The Hockey Writers.

  • Potential Future LTIR Use:
The Flyers may still place Ellis on LTIR later in the season or in the offseason if they need the cap space for a specific transaction.

The whole Ellis situation just drives me insane, to this day. The dude is being paid $37.5 million across 6 years to play 4 games for us and do absolutely nothing else.

Now tell me that isn't sketchy.

How in the **** was he medically cleared for us to acquire him in that trade!?!

We end up losing Myers, Patrick and $37.5 million for 4 games worth of Ryan Ellis...LOL

On top of that, the entire franchise is hamstrung for a potential 6 seasons of him lurking on our LTIR. There are STILL 2 seasons left of this!!

Im thinking it would be easier to hire a crazy liberal to off him, we could say he's was a big defender of ICE!
