Yep, he would also improve our PP drastically. He's a great passer.
I was just throwing stuff out there, but I didn't realize he's on a contract year? It could be possible for the Avs to listen for offers. Like you said, he's going to get paid big$$$. The Flyers should have enough cap space and picks and prospects to at least get the Avs attention. I think id rather have Makar over McDavid. I feel we have enough scoring talents to win games. Having a guy like Makar helping QBing the PP and also helping Vladar would make a huge boost to our team moving forward.

Both would be game changers for sure, but I agree, right now our defense is our weakest link. Him being on the backend would solidify a lot.

Could the Flyers put out an offer sheet for a guy like Makar? I forgot how that works. The last time I recall was Homer put one in for Shea Webber a few years ago.

See my question below. Is this even a possibility? And would that make sense? Would it piss off not only the Avs, but other teams as well from doing business w the Flyers?

sheet cale makar

+3

Technically, the Philadelphia Flyers could offer sheet Cale Makar, but it is practically impossible due to the Colorado Avalanche matching any offer and the immense, likely prohibitive compensation required. While Flyers executives have expressed regret for not drafting him in 2017, offering him a contract would require over \(\$10\) million+ annually.

Makar has next year on his contract too. And the Avs would be nuts to even let someone finish explaining their offer to him. Arguably the best dman in the game and fits right into their cup contention window. Absolutely no reason to move him. Unless he wanted out, but why would he?

I mean realistically we could make an offer but yea, why would he want to leave. They have players willing to take pay cuts to play here and keep the core together. McDavid may end up here soon, lol.

Drysdale, Michkov along with Toronto's first round pick and the Kings 3rd round pick in 2027 for McDavid.

San Jose got so lucky. Thankfully they are out west. Have a bunch of young talent, just barely missed the playoffs and now they are drafting 2nd overall. Actually, I don't understand how this is even possible.

San Jose drafted 4th in '23, 1st in '24, 2nd in '25 and now 2nd in '26. I thought there were rules in place to prevent drafting top 2 three years in a row.
