The Official SportsHoopla NHL Best Player Thread!

JustAsking recommended this, and I thought it a good idea, not just to prevent spamming the board (likely with innocent motives) with various player 1 vs. player 2 debate threads, but also to compile all the arguments and information in one concise source to which everyone can easily refer at any time.

Over Winter Break, if I'm not still behind on my senior project, I might work out a new statistical evaluation method to help out in this debate, but that's a long way off.

Anyway, at this point in the season, my vote goes to Stamkos. At any point in the season, he's got my vote for best one-timer, but it's hard to argue against his early-season production.

I guess right now, my thoughts are the following.

Stamkos is having the best year so far. OV is the best power forward in the league. Dats or Sid is the best overall forward in the league.

I come with no stats or real arguments right now, but I'll be back.
