No.You mean boring.
No.You mean boring.
watching it now, the summer Jew camp episode.
Dammit Midge is a babe.
and Tony Shalhoub is fucking fantastic.
Just watched the wedding episode. I can’t stand cringe moments. That whole thing was too unrealistic to take at all seriously. Same feel with the Paris stand up routine. Comedy is about timing. And that does not come from some random person translating what you are saying without any prep.
I understand this is essentially theater on film, but that sort of thing is one reason I am not a huge theater fan.
Watching S3...
still a HUGE theater feel. But the opening scene at the USO was an impressive, feat. 1 single take. The path of the Jeep at the very beginning made absolutely zero sense, but I am willing to ignore that.
One thing that REALLY takes me out of the show, though, is that Midges routines are VERY unfunny.
Susie makes the show worth while. And following their lives is interesting. Her standup, though... it is like watching a show about a successful fictional singer, but the song the writers wrote just aren’t any good. You just suspend your disbelief while they demonstrate their “gift”.Haha. If you don't Midges routines funny, its hard to imagine you liking this series. There's definitely more to the show than her but her act is a very big part of it.

The artistic fashion is also very distinct. I am not a fan of it, but I can acknowledge and appreciate it.There are a lot of other great characters in the show for sure. Susie, her Dad etc.
I like her routines a lot and think they're really funny but that me. It is also about "showbiz" in the 60's too.
Don't like the show and can't figure out why anyone else would.
