The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum (2027)

This prequel to the Peter Jackson films is slated for release on Friday, December 17, 2027 (the same day as Avengers 6: Secret Wars, so I suspect Hunt for Gollum will later move to another date to avoid competition).

Andy Serkis directs. The cast will include:

- Andy Serkis returning as Gollum
- Ian McKellan returning as Gandalf
- Elijah Wood returning as Frodo
- Lee Pace returning as Thranduil
- Jamie Dornan replacing Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn / Strider
- Kate Winslet as new character Marigol
- Leo Woodall as new character Halvard
- Anya Taylor-Joy as new character Seren

The film is based on about 2 paragraphs in the books: the producers just can't stop milking this franchise.

Though, to their credit, in Anya Taylor-Joy, they cast the most elf-looking actress in Hollywood.

Both trilogies are more than enough for me. I haven’t seen Rings of Power either, not saying it’s bad, just no interest in it or this.

I’ll read the books and watch the 2 trilogies if I feel the need to immerse myself in Middle-Earth again.

Jesus, they're digging deep to find content to milk out of Middle Earth, ain't they? Tolkien's son dying has not been good for things. The Hobbit being turned into a trilogy was awful and I have little faith with this. It's just lazy fanservice now.
