To be fair, the banks want the business, that's a shit ton of money coming in. But, as long as it's federally illegal, the banks can't do business with them because they will face penalties from the feds.

At least that's my understanding.

I was actually looking into starting a collective a couple of years ago and spoke to a couple of folks that already had them. One of them told me that having a ton of cash on hand all of the time seems pretty cool...but she said it's also dangerous because she can be carrying thousands of dollars around just to pay her bills for the business. That's not even counting her employees having to be paid in cash which means they're walking around with a lot of cash on paydays.

At one point, she actually hired armed security because a couple of collectives nearby had been robbed.

Plus, she had to move her collective 3 times before she found a spot where local government would leave her alone.

All of that info convinced me to not get into it.

I just don't like the current set up. Dispensary owners should be able to use banks for their business. And armed security isn't all that odd. I've heard several down in Denver have them. But for here in Boulder I'm only aware of one.

Got my card recently. The total cost of it $150.33. By my dispenasry offers a $150.00 store credit with a recipt from the doctors visit.

Where I'm at you have to be 18 to shop on the medical side (with a valid card of course) and 21 to shop of the rec. side. The sales tax is insane though for one side. Medical- 4%. Recreational- 17%.

Same. I don't know about tax. I found a great delivery service with great prices and it's all one price. The only difference seems to be that if you're under 21, you have to have a medical card for them to deliver to you.

Dang...$150.

Back before recreational use became legal, I think the most I ever paid for a medical card was $80 and then $40 to renew if you renewed before the card actually expired.

It goes like this. $125 doctors fee to talk to him for 30 minutes. State says doctors gotta talk to people for 30 minutes for some dumb reason. And the state charges a $26.33 application fee. The other day I got $120 worth for stuff 25 cents (keef colas, bottle of 1,000 mg sour gummies & 2 Revel cartridges- orchard peach / 83% & sweet honeydew 86%.

I forgot to get my 1,000 mg CBD dropper though, dammit! Now I gotta wait until Sunday so I can get my double discount. My regular members discount + a CBD Sunday discount. Cost will be about $55.

That's an interesting set up. Works out good on that visit to the collective though. California's way just seems easier. lol

I like the set up the state has right now. But to renew my card I really think it should only cost $4.20. :heh:

Before legalization I had a dealer who I texted and he would deliver an ounce of pretty good weed for $250 (which is around what it costs legal now). Never had to deal with medical cards. But I prefer edibles and vaping so I'm much happier now.

You're in CO why do you even bother with all that? Just go buy the stuff at the local weed shop.

On the recreational side the sale tax is 17%. On the medical side it's 4%. Also on the medical side they have a better selection of edibles (gummies & keef cola).

Recreational sides of dispensaries don't carry 1000 mg gummies or 100 mg colas. Also better selection of waxes and shatters. Oh yeah. I also get my 1000 mg CBD drops from my dispensary. On the recreational side there's a THC-cap with all products. Have no idea what it is, but much lower than the medical side.

Posted before I saw this. Makes sense. Much more recreational selection in CA

Makes me wonder if he gets another contract (if he wants it)...is he going to pull a Brady and play into his 40s?
