Only The Brave

Wow... what a simple, yet powerful movie. This one shook me to the core. I was warned by my wife before watching it, so I expected the outcome but it didn’t make me feel any more prepared for it. Amazing cast and superb performances all around. Excellent portrayal of many different internal struggles. Loved the symbolism of the burning bear. Great movie that I’d definitely recommend.

Alice in Wonderland. Not Tim Burton's best, but I enjoyed it... apparently more than the critics did as it only got a 51 on RT. 7/10

I actually liked the first (Burton) one. I could see it being pretty popular with a young adult crowd.

Your mileage might vary on the second one.

Get Smart

Its decent as long as you aren't comparing it to the original. Tries to be a generic, funny hollywood movie and most succeeds.

B-

Planet Hulk

Probably could've been better than Thor Ragnarok but it had a really uneventful script. I'd imagine this is a cliffnotes version of a much better comic.

Jersey Boys

About as generic of a music bio movie as it gets. No reason to watch this over almost any of movie like this.

The Green Book.

Driving Miss Daisyish. Cliched themes but well done based on a true events and people. Viggo Mortenson looks terrible as an overweight Italian bouncer from the Bronx but does a good job as a "driver" escorting a black pianist through a concert tour of the 60's South.

I really enjoyed Green Book. Much better than I was expecting. With that said, I also found Viggos portrayal to be at times over the top. But all in all great performance, especially by Ali. I thought he was fantastic.

I thought they were both very good. Ali's performance was probably the harder one as the piano prodigy that didn't quite fit in either world (until Viggo shows him the way ;))

Lawless.

Not the most pleasant movie ever made but I didn't mind it.

Tom Hardy was strong. And Guy Pierce was annoying.

Booksmart, kind of like a female Superbad. Produced by Will Ferrell and Adam Mckay and the directorial debut of actress Olivia Wilde

Rocketman (2019)

I thought Bohemian Rhapsody was very overrated. Rocketman, IMO, is much better. Taron Egerton does an impressive comparable job playing Elton John as Rami did Freddie. This is also a very different style of movie than Bohemian Rhapsody. This is an actual musical, but it is not for the kids. You expect some gay stuff, but Rocketman leaves a lot less to the imagination (unfortunately). I just realized this is one of the only recent biopics about a musician where the subject is still alive.

Been rewatching ESPN 30 for 30s. Just watched Fantastic Lies (very applicable to todays world, possibly the start of how things got to today), The Gospel According to Mac, Catholics vs. Convicts, and The Boz.

I plan on getting through The U and The U Part 2 either today or tomorrow. Followed by Trojan Wars and whatever else CFB I can get my hands on.

It is ridiuclous that Nebraska doesn't have some kind of 30 for 30 yet. For crying out loud, we are mentioned in 4 of the ones I mentioned just now (TGATM, Boz, U, and U2). I mean, we have a successful and storied history spanning 3+ decades.

Anyway, enough ranting. I enjoy watching all of these. Previously, I thought Fantastic Lies was the best one... but The Gospel According to Mac and The Boz are really good too and both Miami ones are good as well.

Watched Replicas earlier. It wasn’t too bad for a DTV movie but nothing worth going out of your way to see... unless you want to see some of Alice Eve’s ass which is never a bad thing. 2.5 out of 5.

The Highwaymen

Wasn't too bad I guess but it kinda felt like they put a movie together that was going to be pretty boring hoping you'd watch just because it was Costner and Harrelson
