The last team to make the Super Bowl without being a #1 or #2 seed were the Baltimore Ravens in 2012. Since that time, no team seeded #3 or lower has made the big game.

So, the question becomes, will any of the winners from this past weekend change the pattern and make the SB this time around?

If so, who will it be? Or will both conferences change the trend?

And before 2013, we had a 6 seed winner in the Packers, a 4 seed in the 9-7 Giants and Flacco and the Ravens. I can see someone like the Chargers maybe breaking this trend. Maybe not but possible.

I like the Chargers chances if they can get by the Pats. Very tough task

Short answer is that the bye and home game is a massive advantage; besides the obvious that 1 and 2 seeds are very rarely not better than 3-6, barring some injury.

This year is kind of interesting in that the Chargers have a solid argument for 1a/1b in the AFC, but are the 5 seed. The Colts are hot, but I am very skeptical of any Tampa 2 defense in 2019, especially when it's 20th against the pass despite playing a bunch of nobodies. They are much better than the typical 6 seed, nonetheless.

The Cowboys and Eagles are obvious runts of the litter on paper in the NFC- but Saint Nick, amirite.

i voted 'none' but if I had to rank them in order of the ones I think would have the best chance, it would be:

1) (tie) Colts and Chargers
3) Eagles
4) Cowboys

I honestly thought this might be the year to break the trend the way the top seeds were kind of stumbling down the stretch but it was not to be. Some really top notch coaching this weekend from the bye teams. Belichick, no surprise really but holy fuck, what a domination. McVay showed the world he wasn't some one trick pony and pulled out some old school football. That fake punt call by Payton was fucking incredible. The Eagles had the Saints on the ropes and that was like a haymaker that totally changed the game. And Reid had a great plan drawn up but also give props to Bob Sutton for a great defensive effort.
