One of the more likable players ever. Classy, good offensively and defensively, he was a champion. Also the best player on The A Line.

i will say this is the official end of the devils glory days he was the last member of that group from middle 90s to 2012. very sad day since this is the last player from when i was a kid that i followed.


he wasn't flashy but he did all the little things and fit the team perfectly for what they needed. man just thinking back to how stacked that 99-01 team was

arnott elias sykora gomez lemiux mogilny madden pando rounding the top 3 lines. stevens neids rafalski dano anchors on the defense. its really a shame/crime that we didn't win that cup against the av's.

Probably not unfortunately. If it were up to me, yes. I just don't see him getting much love from outside the Devils.

Yes, outside the Devils organization, nobody will think he is deserving. Very solid career numbers on a team that was always defense first.
Then again, 5 time all star (I think), 2 cups, 1000 NHL points which not many have achieved. I think he will get votes, just not sure enough to be in HOF.
He has plenty of Devils records that will not be touched any time soon.

Great player and definitely worthy of the HOF. I'll be surprised if he isn't at least 2nd ballot and I'd be shocked if he didn't make it at all. 20+ years with one team and the top 1 or 2 faces of your franchise makes him a shoo-in.

Ovie said he is going to the Olympics, no matter what. I am sure other Russians will join him and would not be surprised players from other countries do the same.
I know many NHL fans feel that the Olympics are just a interruption to the NHL season. That is true. But the Olympics is also a once in 4 year event where I'd like to see all the top talent in the world play for their countries. I was always a fan of the Olympics.

Not sure what the solution is but I think the NHL will have a huge problem with their latest stance.

I could understand his regret on #2....

I hated losing to the Avs but at the same time before and after we won cups and were a strong cup contender during that time.

The Kings one was one built on one last magical run by our guys. We weren't projected or favorites, we played really hard and strong and we took down the Eastern Conf #1 NYR which was glorious...

The Kings series was winnable but bad luck hit us and we lost. We didn't have the building blocks to sustain that team nor did we create one so it was like, they got there cuz they won and play hard vs FL, PHI & NYR. all favorited over us.
