The good news: A supremely gifted superstar center who has missed every minute of what has already been a pretty fun NBA season is nearly ready to return to action. The bad news: The happy and light-filled days when we are able to pretend that teams other than the Golden State Warriors have a realistic chance of winning the title are fast drawing to a close.

When teams go small I don't see how he stays on the court. And who closes games, him or Iggy?

It's nice getting him finally, but I don't think it will be the major impact some are saying. It's a net improvement but not a huge one.

It'll be interesting. It's going to be awhile before we know how this is going to work.

I would expect that he's going to be on a minutes restriction when he first comes back as he gets his conditioning up to game level, sees what he can still do and get in sync with everyone.

What will also be interesting is what his role actually ends up being. He's trying to get himself the big contract that the injury cost him, so I'd think he'll want a big role. So that could be something to watch.

But, if there's a team that can give him a big role and still keep everyone else pretty happy, it's probably the Warriors.

Likely basing his opinion on how long it seems to typically take to return from that type of injury.

He'll need to get into game shape and get acclimated with his new teammates. Plus, he'll likely be on a minutes restriction for awhile. So 100% right around the time the playoffs start is probably not too far off.
