The Devils are awful

I just can't figure this out. I figured they'd struggle moving the puck from the back end, but they'd be a terror otherwise. The stats look ugly so far and they're getting drilled again tonight.

I've only seen about 20 minutes of Devils hockey this year; what's the big issue with the team right now, for anyone who's watched a lot of their games this year?

I'd like to say Martin's departure did it, but he was gone most of last season on IR and the Devils did fine. Greene hasn't really looked like he did last year though.

I used to think Paul Martin was the most underrated defenseman in the league, I wonder if I was right about that.

Martin has been great so far in Pittsburgh. More than just on the scoresheet too. He's getting overlooked a little because Letang and Goligoski have been lighting it up too, but he's been very impressive in the young season.

I think I heard the Pens blueline has been the highest scoring in the league (each of the aforementioned 3 are top 10 as I type) and they've had 3 AHLers in the lineup for most of the season with Orpik and Z out.

then again.. he's yet to try kovy arnott elias in any way shape or form, and has yet to show any willingness to move elias around even tho he's proven to be effective at every single forward position and is hands down the most versatile player on the team.
