I read this and was wondering if there was more to the story than just the diabetes.

That's what I thought at first (and I'm a Pats fan) but it's more about the Pats moving to more of a 4-3. They signed other guys that are better suited for that. Also Love kinda declined last year after a very solid 2011, possibly due to his illness. Solid guy though, I wish him well

1) He has type 2 diabetes.
2) He was released.

He was released after he revealed he had the disease, but that does not mean he was released because he has the disease. He my have been on the chopping block already. I don't believe Bill Belichick makes snap decisions like that. Everything must fit the master plan.

Right, that's the thing, we don't know why he was released. Obviously the timing stunk, but to say that he was cut because he was diagnosed with diabetes is unjustified without more info.

I mean, they just cut Brandon Deaderick too, and he wasn't diagnosed with anything. They're obviously overhauling their DL right now.

According to the article he was released due to his diabetes.. it is NOT a discrimination thing due to his condition can be handled with weight loss and diet there for goes against the ADA.. BUt with him needing to lose weight and change his habits he would not be able to perform the duties of an NFL DT properly with out risking his health. The Patriots offered to give him a bonus if he retired for a year to work on his health and then return to the team after a year, which Love declined. To me it seems the Patriots were looking out for the health of a guy who if he kept his current way of health could hurt himself potentially on the field. They say there could be a lawsuit for the release.. but imagine the lawsuit if they let him play and he died on the field be it a game or practice..

If this is accurate, I think they were fair.

Nobody wants to be cut, in any sport or business. Being cut after you find out you have a life altering disease is even harder to swallow. But that doesnt mean Bill hadn't already made up his mind the Kyle had played his last snap.
Kyle's agent is spreading the "Evil Empire" propoganda.
