The Buffs have more depth than they have had in 8 years - Sefo will come into his own as a QB and hold down his mistakes - the Oline has grown up and beefed up - and there is a good stable of running backs.

Leavitt as the new DC has breathed life into the D and the program in general.

They will at least challenge for a bowl game this season - 7 wins.

It's a tough schedule. There is no reason this team can't start 4-0, with Colorado State being the most stout competition on the non-conference slate. Then again, a win @ Hawaii is not a sure thing, and I'm sure one of the non-conference opponents will beat the Buffs. But let's think positive, here and give the Buffs the benefit of the doubt and they do start 4-0. They still need to beat 3 of the 9 conference opponents. That's a tall order with the likes of Oregon, Standford and USC coming in for a visit, and roadies to Arizona State and UCLA, you almost have to chalk up 5 automatic losses right there, even though they played the Sun Devils and Bruins pretty tough. The Buffs do play Utah tough, so I won't count them out of that one. If they don't knock off Washington State and Oregon State they are not as improved as we think they are. I really do think 7-6 is the best case scenario, but in reality think this is a 5-8 or 6-7 team trending in the right direction. Colorado needs to stay the course with this coach. Better days are ahead.

Next year's schedule this year would have been a bowl season IMO.

Well the Buffs needed that win at Hawaii. I still think a 5-8 finish is doable.

I'm not sure what "boisemike" thinks is so funny. Colorado is a down football program, but as an academic institution it is infinitely better than his Boise State. Maybe he's laughing at the admission standards or the blue playing surface?

Guess you were a year early, Mingo. Buffs 4-1 now with a 47-6 win over Oregon State. Last week's 41-38 win over the Ducks was nice and long overdo as well. A couple weeks ago I would have given this team a shot at a bowl game. Two more wins and they're there. But if they keep this up that finale with Utah may be for a spot in the Pac-12 title game.
