I find this really surprising considering the fact that he had 4 starts giving up 2 or less runs.

I don't really see that the Mariners have much better than Bonderman to offer. He has had some good starts and some bad starts but this move really surprises me.

He had the lowest strikeout rate of any pitcher with more than 30 IP, and was horrific against righties.

The M's have a lot of pitching options, including Ramirez who will probably be up very soon.

This was a good move, IMO, but I wouldn't be surprised if Bonderman finds a home really fast.

Even no there's been no official announcement on Thursday's starter it will likely be Ramirez. Leutge was brought up for bullpen help until then.

Bonderman did better then I thought he would but none the less this move had to be made sometime soon so we could get a look at some the guys in AAA for next years rotation. It doesnt take a genius to figure out Bonderman wouldnt be on the team next year either way. I also think Harang could very well be gone in the next month as well. Maybe to give Maurer another shot? I think Hultzen would have been an option if healthy but I think there is starting to major concern over that rotator cuff.

I think Ramirez would have broke camp with the rotation if healthy in Spring Training so he deserves a shot

I'd be very surprised if it was anyone but Ramirez coming up in the next few days to take that spot in the rotation.

they said it was going to be somebody who we have already seen at the big league level, so its probs going to either be Ramirez or Maurer.

I was kinda expecting one of the big 3, but guess not.

And no guys, it's neither Ramirez or Maurer. It's Luetge.

I think we're all saying that Luetge is up for the pen, and another move will be made in the next 48 hours to bring up a starter.

I wouldn't expect one of the big 3... Hultzen has been hurt, Paxton hasn't been good and Walker just got to AAA. If they do call one of them up I think they are idiots.

Luetge got called up to fill the roster spot and provide an extra arm in the pen for a few days, but someone still has to fill Bonderman's spot in the rotation and unless they decide to use Beavan because we're so close to the all-star break anyway, they're gonna have to call someone up from AAA to fill it. If they do that, I would think that that pitcher will be Ramirez. He'll be on five days' rest by then and of the guys we could call up, he's the most major league ready guy.

Brian Sweeney has officially been list as Tacoma's starter for tommorrow nights game. Erasamo Ramirez was originally scheduled to start in that spot.
Im not a genius but I think I can read between the lines on this one. Not that I had any doubt before.

He earned it. It'll be good to have him back. My theory of Beavan possibly getting the start instead because of how close we are to the all-star break got tossed out the window both with that announcement and his appearance in tonight's game.

For what it is worth, Bonderman signed a minor league deal with Detroit.

It makes sense. That organization knows him better than any other organization in the league. It'd be nice to see him continue to progress and eventually get back to the majors where it all began for him. With Ramirez coming back and Bonderman still coming back from injury, he became the odd man out in Seattle and I'm not surprised that he opted to become a free agent rather than go back to Tacoma. At least he's going back to his baseball home now, even if he's gonna start in AAA there.

Always a chance for post season with Detroit. Not so much with M's. I can't blame him.

Just as a side note, Bonderman has 8 Ks in 7 IP for Detroit, while only racking up 16 in 38.2 in Seattle. He's a long reliever in Detroit, and as long as nothing unforseen happens, will most likely stay there.

The guy has talent and coming back from a devastating injury sometimes takes a while to get all the way back. Now granted he was never a superstar but as detroit is proving, if he is used correctly he can get the job done
