This article is written by the guy who steals Chris Anderson’s and Mike Casazza’s material from 24/7?

It’s truly hard to fathom that a kid from Texas would choose WVU over OU... no matter what the Uncle says. Just guessing, but we know Dana didn’t waste time on kids he knew he had little chance at getting. I’m guessing he felt the same way as I do about the chances Murray would choose WVU once given a schollie to OU.

Too much smoke for me to defend Dana. Wright, this kid, Chris over at 247 and more have all talked about how Dana didn't recruit as he should have.

The guy just doesn’t have what it takes to run a big boy program as a HC. Good OC, he needs to stick to that.

I am not going to disagree...there were some in state kids ...like a Swtizer...that should have been playing in the Old Gold and Blue..

WVU was never in the running for Wright. The player and his HS HC were honest and forward with this stance.

Dana raised the recruiting profile significantly in his time at WVU. All accomplished with an AD who left him on the hot seat for two straight years.

Despite what Chris Anderson has shared, Dana was doing something right.

That article was dead on spot, name one thing in it that is not true, Holgorsen left some good running backs, no QB, no OL, a defense that needed retooled. Say what you will, Holgorsen left the cupboard empty for himself, saw the writing on the wall, and bolted, blaming the school for HIS failures.

Sad but true, BUT it is what it is now. Brown and his staff have a big job to do and the AD/school/supporters need to do whatever is necessary to get the program where it needs to be.
Personally I think we (all mentioned above) need to step up on finances for the recruiting budget. Read that article the other day about where we were compared to other programs and while it wasn't embarrassing in comparison imho WVU should be putting more money into that effort for the obvious challenges that we have to deal with and to Dana’s defense that may not have been properly dealt with while he was here for whatever reason and might have contributed to SOME of the shortcomings in that area.

I'm not surprised a Raese owned media outlet would let such an opinionated piece represent it.

This sportswriter should be taken to task though...

What we've witnessed through the first two games is a poorly prepared... poorly coached team. That's it.

The talent level of the team overall is light years ahead of anything Dana took over in '11.

Geno Smith was a 4 star QB out of South Florida. Jack Allison is a 4 star QB out of Florida.

Tavon Austin was a 4 star WR out of Baltimore. TJ Simmons is a 4 star WR who transferred from Bama.

Stedman Bailey was a 3 star WR out of South Florida. Sam James is a 3 star WR out of Georgia.

The OL...

Dana inherited a good OL... returning starters... Barclay (Sr), Braun (Jr) and Madsen (Jr)... newcomers - Rader (Sr) and Spain (Fr).

Dana left Neal... a returning all-conference player - Sills... a preseason all-conference player and projected high NFL draft pick - McKivitz. Wickline has returning 3x starter experience... both Brown and Behrnt have returning experience.

There is no excuse for how poorly the OL has looked. Players should be better the next year than they looked the proceeding year. Across the line, our players have all regressed.

That is coaching...

At TE... Dana inherited Tyler Urban. Dana left Neal J Haskins. Not even close when evaluating talent.

That's just the starters...

If we go to the other side of the ball...

Dana inherited a couple of really good kids on the DL... Bruce Irvin and Julian Miller. Neal inherited some good kids there too... the Still brothers and the kid who was carted off the field yesterday... Alston.

Garvin and Tandy were both really good football players... both preseason all-conference players. Neal does not have anything in the secondary to compare to these players.

Much is expected of Cowan, but none of us have seen this 4 star LB play a down for us yet.

Dana inherited a DC and system already in place... the 3-3-5 stack. Neal brought a new DC and a new scheme... the 4-2-5.

If anyone doesn't think that makes a difference... then they can stay in the corner and cry about the cupboard...

WTF, zero comparison.......Smith was a starter under the previous coaching staff, had received effective coaching under Stewart and staff Allison mostly sat the bench under Holgorsen and was not up to the task when needed to start when Grier bolted on his team.... Austin was a once in a great while player who had played very effectively, remember what the mad hatter said when the Stewart coached team went to Baton Rouge and nearly beat LSU????? Bailey was again another great player who only comes along once in a while. You are making yourself look foolish by trying to say Holgorsen inherited less talent than he left........Holgorsen had every egg in the basket for last year, and had not prepared for this year at all, he felt he had the team last year to finally get over the hump, would get a long extension, and ride out this year with that extension, when last years team underperformed, he knew that he left the cupboard bare and left, knowing after a two or three win season this year he would be fired........

Everything you have stated in both of these posts says Holgorsen inherited more and better than what he left.......

Forget all the roster stuff, what BB said that hasn’t been addressed was how this team has looked. We all knew this was going to be a rebuilding year of sorts, but for the love of god if they do not show more effort, heart, or whatever kids are calling it these days we may be in trouble for the next couple of years.

No wonder I stayed off here for so long...we are still discussing stew ‍♂️

Are you comparing talent or not?

Everyone has noted the fact that Dana inherited a few really good starters. Everyone also understands there was nothing behind the few skilled starters for Dana to work with.

If that makes me a fool... then I am one of the biggest in the world...

This year’s team looks worse than anyone expected.

That is poor coaching.

Dana took talented kids and took them to the next level.

Neal has taken talented kids... and we’ve seen them regress.

Neal and his staff have time to make a difference.

But, I’m afraid his honeymoon is clearly over. The boo birds were out in the JMU game. If things show no improvement this Saturday... it will not go well for him.

I present the current talent on our team to counter an idiot’s statement that the cupboard was bare.

Our cupboard is anything but bare.

Behind the handful of superstars Dana inherited we find these players...

Tavon Austin’s backup was Willie Millhouse.
Stedman Bailey’s backup was JD Woods and Coley White (former QB).
At the Z WR position... we had R. Nehlen, Brad Starks (former QB) and Ivan McCartney.

Behind Geno Smith we had Paul Millard (walk-on).

At Right CB we had Pat Miller. Nothing else has to be said.

Behind Tyler Urban we had Devin Brown and Andrew Goldbaugh.

Our RB Corps consisted of true freshman... Dustin Garrison, Vernard Roberts and Andrew Buie. We also had Shawne Alston.

Can you even...
