Have to say, the next 5 games don't appear to be quite as daunting as they did at the start of the season. Looks like we're not the only team with injury issues. Here are the next 6 weeks:

Week 5: Bye - There's a chance that all of our key injured players except Jaylon Johnson could be back on the field by week 6. This bye has come at an opportune time.
Week 6: Commanders - The Revenge Game. They've been missing QB Daniels and WR McLaurin, their top two players on the O. Both should be back by then.
Week 7: Saints - Possibly the worst team in the NFL, yet games that are almost considered auto-wins have a habit of biting us in the arse. Let's not take our foot off the pedal on this one.
Week 8: Ravens - Ravens are 1-3? I hear their defense is as banged up as ours has been, and we don't yet know the status of QB Jackson. If he's out still at that point, we can steal this one.
Week 9: Bengals - At least we won't have to face QB Joe Burrows, and the Bengals D has struggled almost as much as ours, at least they did in their last outing, getting crushed 48-10 by Minny.
Week 10: Giants - The Giants defense overall is questionable, but their DL is formidable. It's what I wish ours was.
You could go 3-2, maybe 4-1.

Cleveland def looking good vs Minn right now,not sure if Wentz is out, remains to be seen, but Wentz gives the Vikes a better shot at a winning season imo.....
McCarthy will probably be back as starter, and he has looked abysmal.......
I think we finish ahead of them atleast.

I said a while back that while the Bears likely wouldn't have a winning season or make the playoffs this year, they were setting the foundation for future success. It was based primarily on the hiring of Ben Johnson and the cultural change he'd bring to the organization. Just reading this article featuring Jaquan Brisker's take on this season vs last year reinforces my initial opinion:

Jaquan Brisker Shocked How Fast Ben Johnson Fixed Locker Room

I'm still inclined to stick with my original 8-9 final standings, altho I hope we finish better. But regardless, I'm confident we're still heading in the right direction. The last two squeaker wins against the Raiders and Commanders are perfect examples. Last year's Bears would have lost both of those. In fact, a lot of previous Bears regimes would have lost them.

I think this team is significantly improved over last year's, particularly on offense. Bears are the only team in the league to have scored at least 21 in all 5 games this year. That speaks volumes. I think the D is sneaky good. I've said before, we lack a little up front, but that back 7 is as good as any in the league.

I really like what I'm seeing from this current o-line lineup. Seems they may have found them a real LT, Wright is playing great, even injured and the interior is looking better each week.

I think this team could surprise many this year.

I thought the OL's performance against Washington was the best all season. Was it a fluke or are they finally beginning to gel into the unit we were expecting. I'm voting for the latter.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders.

Believe it or not, we started 4-2 last year.
Averaged 25.2 points per game in our first 5.
This year Bears are averaging 22.6 points per game. (Not complaining.)

But i agree with you both (LSD & BD) there is a vibe that is much different.

We'll see how many other guys they get back. They have a lot of issues besides him being out. Him being out is the biggest, but their D is still a massive liability with a lot of injuries.

The safe take is that Lamar comes back and they take care of business against us. Especially since, at 1-5 they can't afford to lose this game.

But... who knows how healthy Lamar's hammy is or if he'll be limited/cautiously running?

Yes, this does seem like a classic example of "wrong place, wrong time" for the Bears, though. I'd almost rather play them ANY other week. They're going to be REALLY desperate.

First, let's just beat New Orleans. I can't stomach losing to them.

Theo Benedet agrees while making sweet sweet love to your mom.

The Bears were a good team last year.

They just had a cornball pussy-coach, with a shit-scheme and shit spiraled.

I think the o-line is better now. It should be, considering the money spent. With all they did on the interior, (and it IS greatly improved) I get the sneaking suspicion that Theo fugging Benedet is diamond in the fugging rough stud.

If the playoffs began this week our boyz 4-2 record wouldn't cut it. The 2nd thru 7th seeds are all sporting a 5-2 record. This is largely due to the NFC's dominance over the AFC, whereas in that conference we would possibly be as high as the 4th seed. Ain't that a kick in the head.
