Alex Smith (useless) for:

1. Tank Carradine
2. Carlos Hyde
3. Chris Borland

+ Whatever the Niners got from trading down from 56 minus what they gave up trading back up to 57 (I'm sure it was marginal).

I'll take it. :)

yup good trade for both teams. A. Smith helped KC have their best season in a long time. We got some nice young players to help us in the future.

Right now they are just a bunch of names. None of them have done anything yet in the NFL. Until they do, we can't determine if this trade is a win or loss.

I think even just as potential it was a worthwhile trade. Now u include a proven multiple year 1,000 yard WR and it's an awesome deal.

So I guess it was:

1. Tank
2. Hyde
3. Borland
4. Stevie

...For a dead end, loss-in-the-post-season-at-best curse of a QB. :D

For moving back 1 spot in the 2nd round? Really?

We traded back with Denver, got a future 4th, Denver's 2nd and 7th for 56.

Then traded Denver's 2nd and 7th for 57. Apparently the difference in value between the 56th and 57th pick this year was a future 4th.

Stevie doesn't technically count because we didn't trade one of the Chiefs' picks for him. The 4th we got from Denver in next year's draft will be the final piece (assuming we don't move it as well). So it's not yet a finished haul.

You know what's sad? I'm pretty sure Alex Smith has equal or more playoff wins as a starting QB than Matt Ryan, Tony Romo, and Philip Rivers despite those guys having more years on better teams. If he had a defense that showed up this past year he would have easily beat Andrew Luck and the Colts for another win.

No matter what happens it was a great trade for Kansas City to get a starting QB without giving up a 1st round pick. I mean look at what the Raiders gave up for Palmer. The Chiefs have already gotten a much better deal out of their trade than the Raiders did.

Denver got played big time by Baalke.

It looks like both Miami and Denver wanted Cody Latimer as Miami traded down and took Landry. 49ers took advantage of Denver wanting him enough to move up, and then turn around and take advantage of Miami for losing their guy.

Well, don't forget we also yielded a 7th round pick when we traded back from 34 last year. We used that 7th to trade up for Corey Lemonier.

Oh yeah I forgot about that. I thought it was just the 77th pick from Tennessee.

No matter how you shake it, I love this trade! Especially w/ the Lemonier as the resident Lemonier bandwagon driver.

I think the thought process is since we traded a 2015 4th rounder for Stevie J and got a 2015 4th rounder from Denver in essence we got Stevie J for free because of the Smith trade with KC.
