@Hall

I was thinking about Giannis...

but don't know how to spell or say his name... so that didn't help... I was also debating on whether 2 years of greatness is enough...

is he still more hype than Elite(best ever lists)???

3 years of greatness.

I completely understand pushing down active players but Gale Sayers went so the short careers are in play now I feel.

I also weight peak a little more.

Depends what position you play him at SF. I can playing him there but he cant shoot. At PF, since he wouldnt be the main ball handler could be a problem against these great PF’s especially on the block, defensding and offensively. He wouldnt be able to bully them. I would have taken him at SF no doubt around this time, but not PF

I agree about Gale sayers… But football is different... because not many RBs go more than 10 seasons... so if you have an elite 3 or 4 seasons, that is enough IMO...

I feel the opposite. I feel like his best position, especially in all time drafts is PF. He's big and strong enough to hold his own defending the post, but on offense he's a complete mismatch because of his athletic ability and offensive skillset.

I don't love him at PG or SG, but he is capable of handling the duties from time to time. Position in the NBA is mostly about who you can guard and not really what you can do. Giannis can defend 4 positions (well pretty much 5), and possess enough skill to make him viable offensively at any of those positions. But basketball above all other sports is also so dependent on the guys you have out there with him. Playing him at PG with 4 other guys who can't shoot doesn't make him a valuable PG. I just feel like playing at PF there are more ways to field a team that is suited to his strengths.

But the thing is he needs the ball in his hands at this point in his career bc he hasnt fully deveioped his game. Do you really think he can even limit Karl, McHale, CWebb, KG, Timmy...if he has his ball in his hands it’s a mismatch for those guys too but in these mocks there are better players than him where the ball is going to be in their hands...mainly great PG’s. They can at least play off of him bc he doesnt have a jumpshot and I dont think playing in the post favors him in these mocks...in today’s NBA there is no question imo

Do you really want the ball in his hands instead of guys that have better all-around games? I still think he is a beast off and on the ball defending but a mismatch against the greats defensively

Still a good option at this point, so I am not dogging the pick. You have to use him in a specific role bc he still has weaknesses unlike a lot of these guys that dont

Well the part he limits all the PF's you listed is in their mid range game. He's 6'11" and his ability to stick with those guys on the perimeter and be long enough to challenge their shots cuts off a major part of each of their games. Well not cut off, but again enough to make a definitely impact. In the post, it's another situation but Malone and Timmy especially would usually require a double anyways regardless of who's guarding them.

I feel like Giannis is going to be either overrated or undervalued depending on who's with him. It's a different scenario than say a Karl Malone, KG or Duncan who each have their own individual value that will hold, almost regardless of who they play with. So there's situations where Giannis would be absolutely terrible and there's situations where he could be good as a backup in these all time drafts.

Giannis has no post game to score on the all time great PF defenders. Likewise none of those greats can run the break with Giannis. McHale and Timmy are gonna work him in the post to score without a second defender, but Giannis is going to cut off their mid range games which eliminates some spacing. There's a give and take everywhere, but I feel like his strengths are more designed in these all time mocks to match up with PFs. Just my opinion.

Damn you guys for picking so early and being on East Coast time. Both my targets last night were Klay Thompson and Emlen Tunnell and somehow I picked neither of them this morning. LOL.

Fair enough I just think using him a PF his weaknesses outmatch his actual strengths. Using him a primarily ball handlers with shooters around is probably the best scenario but like you said it really depends on how you use him. He cant be used in a wide variety of systems like most of these guys. In a couple years that could change quick. Great and exciting player to watch
